Job Description

Student Services & Communications Coordinator, under the supervision of the Director of Student, Community & Industry Affairs, assists in daily operations of the Student Services Department and University Communications team. This role supports the larger Student Affairs team in the running of established programs and assisting in the development of new programs to improve student success, such as the delivery and promotion of auxiliary student support programs and services in the areas of: health & wellness, housing options, transportation, and more. The Student Services & Communications Coordinator will also support the Student Affairs team in the coordination of services, workshops and, events for areas such as Student Life, Orientation, and Career Services. In addition to program support, this role will serve as a key part of the university communication team and will assist with monitoring and responding to internal tickets, editing emails campaigns and press releases, facilitating distribution of campus/student communications, assisting in creation of marketing/promotional materials, and aiding in social media management. Finally, the Student Services & Communication Coordinator serves as an alternate Student Government Association Advisor, working with the SGA on various activities and projects. Additional future duties may also include working with Financial Aid Services (FAS) to administer student financial aid programs and/or working with ITU’s HR and Finance teams to manage participation in the student health insurance plan.

Job Duties:

• Assist Student, Community, and Industry Relations department in implementing and maintaining a suite of programs and services designed to support student success.

• Coordinate internal communications: Responding to tickets, sending university email updates and notifications, and assisting in web and media content development/editing

Work with Marketing and Public Relations to help coordinate and support social media, PR, and press efforts.

• Plan, organize, promote, and execute Student Life and Orientation programs and/or events on and off campus, as assigned.

• Support the Student Government Association as an Alternate SGA Advisor on various activities and projects, as assigned.

• Collaborate and support other Student Affairs team members with on -campus workshops and events, as assigned.

• Maintain and update list of local health & wellness/mental health providers, and coordinate with staff throughout the organization to refer students to these community resources.

• Coordinate with faculty and staff to provide on -campus student workshops on a variety of topics related to health & wellness, such as stress management.

• Research housing options for ITU students and reach out to potential housing partners for ITU. 

• Work with Facilities & Operations to research airport pick -up options for ITU studen ts and reach out to potential transportation partners for ITU.

• Work with Financial Aid and Accounting Services to identify banking, scholarship, and other financial aid options for ITU students.

• Work with the Marketing Department to facilitate accurate and timely website updates and communications to students, regarding the programs and services offered by ITU Student Services.

• Assist Director with periodic planning of staff trainings on topics relevant to student well - being and success, such as suicide prevention, domestic violence and self -defense.

• Liaison with external vendor to administer financial aid services for students

• Work with Human Resources and Accounting Services to facilitate the student health insurance program and guide students through the process as needed.

• Other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution or equivalent combination of education and relevant job experience
• Two years of administrative and/or customer service experience, preferably in an academic institution.
• Must be a conscientious individual who needs little supervision
• Must be able to work well with diverse individuals and build relationships across stakeholder
groups
• Excellent oral communication skills, including public speaking.

• Excellent written communication skills with an ability to write and edit for mass emails, press releases, online content, or other official distributions.

• Familiarity with Social Media

• Ability to multi-task and stay organized in a fast-paced environment

• Ability to work independently and take initiative to accomplish goals
• Ability to work a flexible work schedule, including some evening and weekend hours.
• The ability to occasionally drive to local vendors to pick up supplies for events as needed.
• Ability to lift 15 pounds
• Good computer skills using MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

• Experience in higher education and, specifically, in financial aid or student services
• Experience in Leadership and/or Student Government organizations
• Event planning experience
• Experience managing volunteers
• Familiarity with Apple operating system

• Experience managing social media or official communications

• Experience using Illustrator or photoshop to general ads, flyers, or other promotional materials
