Remote Senior User Experience Strategist - (Boston, Baltimore, or DC)
- Full-time
Company Description
As a digitally-focused management consultancy, we do more than strategy. From strategy and design to architecture and development, we deploy senior, cross-functional teams to work hip-to-hip in the trenches with client teams.
Founded in 2003, Intevity (previously Twin Technologies) is a full service, digitally-focused management consultancy based in Boston, MA with remote offices and employees throughout the eastern and central US (Baltimore, Chicago, D.C., New York). Intevity focuses on both Commercial and Public Sector clients, with deep expertise in retail, software, and government. Intevity has key vendor partnerships with Adobe, AWS, and Salesforce.
We work on all phases of projects, from early discovery and design to strategy to execution. We are known for our vulnerability-based culture, high levels of craftsmanship, innovation, and trust; being able to truly connect with the needs and spot the real reasons why an organization is being held back from achieving their goals.

As an agile company, Intevity is committed to continually growing and evolving with the market to provide an environment where creativity, leadership, mentoring, planning, and resources are in place to achieve our shared goals.
Job Description
A Senior User Experience strategist is a master communicator and active listener who knows how to empathize with clients, problem solve and lead teams successfully through their greatest challenges.
As a key member of the Experience team, you are responsible for spearheading our clients’ digital transformations through the use of design thinking techniques and hands-on discovery workshops. When facilitating or leading a workshop you command the room and are self-aware in order to modulate or tailor your approach to your specific audience.
You will work closely with our clients’ stakeholders to first understand their problem-space and mission and then collaboratively brainstorm new solutions and digital strategies. You are fascinated by the questions: Why? What?, and How? but understand that “Why” always comes first. You are motivated by a deep understanding of the customer and key audiences. You use research and psychology-based tools and techniques to solve a variety of challenges and scenarios. To do this, you’re outcome-focused. You love to learn and have an insatiable curiosity about how things work. You can handle ambiguity with ease and logically spot patterns to help guide the path forward.
Because each client and their needs are different, you are comfortable wearing multiple hats and rolling up your sleeves when needed. You’re a thinker AND a doer. When compared to others, you stand out as a star player who will do whatever it takes to get the job done—no matter how big or small the job is. You lead by example as well as help others.
As a team player, you will work closely with a team of strategists, designers, developers, and executive leaders to craft experiences that accelerate our client’s businesses and their growth—all built upon a deep understanding of our client, our client’s customers and their needs. While you can work independently when needed, you know that the best ideas come when involving a well-integrated and trusted team. When working with this team, you communicate fully and transparently. You’re humble, genuine and smart with the goal of wanting everyone involved to grow, succeed and ultimately be personally and professionally better as a result.
Here are some of the things you will do on a regular basis:
Serve as the experience lead on client engagements
Collaborate with client and team to define project objectives and strategic approach
Plan and facilitate discovery / design thinking workshops featuring hands-on activities in support of divergent and convergent thinking; includes research and writing activities
Summarize, recommend and drive next steps and research methods that will optimize discovery, increase time-to-value, and/or mitigate risk
Analyze workshop findings and subsequent experience research to find trends and patterns and develop strategic insights
Craft, develop and tell cohesive stories about proposed solutions and related outcomes
Create beautiful and informative Powerpoint presentations with collaboration from team
Serve as a subject matter expert for digital strategy, user experience, and customer experience
Provide thought leadership and participate in industry events
Serve as a leader and mentor to your fellow teammates
Contribute to business development activities; case studies, client interviews events, meetings, presentations
Hold yourself personally accountable for the successes and failures of your team
Expectations:
Being remote allows our employees to live where they want to. Working remotely is not for everyone but it allows us to spend less time commuting and more time on the things that really matter. We believe this is essential to supporting a workforce that can achieve a healthy work-life balance. In exchange, we ask that you are geographically located somewhere in the Northeast, within driving distance of a major airport so you can travel to client sites or team meet-ups when needed.
What does this mean for you? You get to work from where you need or want to work. Each team member is provided the tools, infrastructure, and support to create a productive, professional work from home office environment. We observe and operate standard East Coast working hours to support the majority of our clients and our teammates. We also provide some flexibility for daily schedules to accommodate one’s personal obligations to home and family life.
We recognize that working remotely isn’t always easy; the remote work model encourages independent thinking but requires increased professional accountability and self-discipline. We are an outcome-focused team and work to get the job done. We champion a culture of transparency and openness.
While travel is part of the job requirement to service clients and team build, we ensure it is asked for and planned as thoughtfully as possible.Travel amounts vary by engagement, but a senior UX strategist can expect to travel ~2x month for 2-3 days on average to build client relationships and hold workshops in person.
