Job Description

A Senior Digital Marketing and Experience Strategist is a hybrid role split that sets the vision and contributes to the internal digital marketing effort as well as externally spearheads our clients’ digital transformations through the use of design thinking techniques and hands-on discovery workshops.  

As a key member of the Experience team, you are a master communicator and active listener who knows how to empathize with clients, problem solve and lead teams successfully through their greatest challenges. You are passionate about marketing and love to shape messaging to tell compelling stories,

As a team player, you will work closely with a team of strategists, designers, developers, and executive leaders to craft marketing messaging that promotes our Intevity brand and offerings as well as craft experiences that accelerate our client’s businesses and their growth—all built upon a deep understanding of our client, our client’s customers and their needs. While you can work independently when needed, you know that the best ideas come when involving a well-integrated and trusted team. When working with this team, you communicate fully and transparently. You will work closely with our clients’ stakeholders to first understand their problem-space and mission and then collaboratively brainstorm new solutions and digital strategies. When facilitating or leading a workshop you command the room and are self-aware in order to modulate or tailor your approach to your specific audience. 

You are fascinated by the questions: Why? What?, and How? but understand that “Why” always comes first. You are motivated by a deep understanding of the customer and key audiences. You use research and psychology-based tools and techniques to solve a variety of challenges and scenarios. To do this, you’re outcome-focused. You love to learn and have an insatiable curiosity about how things work. You can handle ambiguity with ease and logically spot patterns to help guide the path forward. 

 Here are some of the things you will do on a regular basis:

Experience strategy:

  • Serve part-time as the experience lead on client engagements 

  • Collaborate with client and team to define project objectives and strategic approach

  • Plan and facilitate discovery / design thinking workshops featuring hands-on activities in support of divergent and convergent thinking; includes research and writing activitiesSummarize, recommend and drive next steps and research methods that will optimize discovery, increase time-to-value, and/or mitigate risk 

  • Analyze workshop findings and subsequent experience research to find trends and patterns and develop strategic insights

  • Craft, develop and tell cohesive stories about proposed solutions and related outcomes

  • Create beautiful and informative PowerPoint presentations with collaboration from team 

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for digital strategy, user experience, and customer experience

  • Contribute to business development activities; case studies, client interviews events, meetings, presentations

Marketing:

  • Ideate, develop, execute, track, and report on internal inbound marketing campaigns using the HubSpot platform, including blogging, social media marketing, search engine optimization, website updates, email marketing, and others

  • Become a HubSpot expert and keep up with software updates and best practices—educating your teammates as required

  • Own activities like blog post creation, landing page A/B testing, content offer creation, web page updates, and more (contract writers, designers, and developers will assist as needed with execution)

  • Manage contract writers helping with blog

  • Create monthly performance reports that track KPIs related to website traffic, lead generation, new contact acquisition, etc

  • Become an expert in company offerings in order to write and implement lead nurturing and demand generation campaigns utilizing HubSpot's automation software

  • Build and test segmented lists and workflows based on audience behaviors like offers downloaded, site pages visited and emails opened

  • Stay informed about inbound marketing industry development

  • Identify conferences and speaking engagements for Intevity executives and senior managers to speak at and help craft key messaging

  • Help define our branding and voice

  • Practice your craft by contributing to the company blog and social media presence, as well as contributing to client content development

  • Serve as a leader and mentor to your fellow teammates

Qualifications

Must haves:

  • 5+ years experience with digital marketing, content marketing, and social media

  • 5+ years experience with digital strategy, design thinking, and workshop facilitation

  • Understanding of major social media platforms, search engine optimization, email marketing best practices and CAN-SPAM compliance

  • Understanding of user experience, user research, lean UX, and management consulting

  • Ability to work independently

  • Desire to learn on your own and keep up with inbound marketing and Internet marketing developments and best practices

  • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Office and Google Docs

  • Proficiency in blogging platforms and/or content management skills

  • Strong work ethic with a positive and enthusiastic attitude

  • Possess a deep understanding of the customer and key audiences

  • Roll-up-your-sleeves problem solver

  • Strong speaker and written/visual communicator with superior listening skills and a “share early, share often” mentality

  • Willingness to coach/mentor teammates

  • Candidate must live in Northeast US (Boston preferred)

  • This is a full-time position with the majority of work done remotely from the employee’s home office. There is occasional travel.

  • Ability to travel and located within 3 hours drive of a major airport

  • Legal United States citizen

Nice to haves:

  • At least 6-months hands-on day-to-day experience with multiple modules and hubs within HubSpot or similar 

  • Management consulting

  • Agile frameworks

  • Inbound certification or HubSpot certification a plus

  • Writing / journalism background

  • Experience working remotely

  • Strong graphic / creativity skills

In exchange, we ask that you are geographically located somewhere in the Northeast - Mid Atlantic US, within driving distance of a major airport so you can travel to client sites or team meet-ups when needed.

Each team member is provided the tools, infrastructure, and support to create a productive, professional work from home office environment. We observe and operate standard East Coast working hours to support the majority of our clients and our teammates. We also provide some flexibility for daily schedules to accommodate one’s personal obligations to home and family life.

While travel is part of the job requirement to service clients and team build, we ensure it is asked for and planned as thoughtfully as possible.  Travel amounts do vary by engagement, but a marketing / experience strategist can expect to travel once a month for 2-3 days on average to conduct client workshops, meet with teammates, and build client relationships.
