Job Description

This position reports to the Network Infrastructure Manager and works to improve or maintain a high level of network performance and availability through the implementation of sound server and voice technologies and consistent use of generally accepted IT best practices. The incumbent will work closely with the Enterprise Infrastructure Manager to ensure that the voice, network and server infrastructure delivers at a service level consistent with organizational risk, information access requirements, and business strategies and will also assist Applications personnel in the installation and support of business applications. Additionally, the incumbent will work with user and vendor staff to ensure proper implementation of computing infrastructure in support of business initiatives; work closely and professionally with Vendors and other team members to promote teamwork, stewardship, and accountability and provides technical consulting on simple to moderate IT initiatives.

Qualifications

This position is responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of the voice, network and server infrastructure for the organization’s Information Technology. This infrastructure primarily includes: • Voice Infrastructure:  • Network Infrastructure:  Network switches  Routers  Firewalls  Cabling plant  WAN circuits (vendor provided)  Wireless solutions • Server infrastructure:  Servers  Racks  SAN  Tape devices  Data Center environment (HVAC, Power conditioning, fire suppression, failover systems) • Assesses server and network infrastructure needs and capabilities of the organization. Makes regular reports to management concerning the current state of the technical environment. • Works with manager to establish WAN and other key service provider relationships. Manages such vendor relationships by establishing performance monitoring, capacity planning and service level metrics appropriate to the needs for the company. • Provides input to manager to establish critical policies and procedures for:  Acceptable Use  Risk Mitigation  Asset Management  Network Operations • Executes work plans for the design, build, test and implementation of the server and network infrastructure. Meets deadlines and quality requirements. • Plans, coordinates, and implements network security measures at the perimeter and for internal threats in order to protect data, software, and hardware. • Assesses, documents and coordinates current site network configuration based on user, supplier and customer requirements. • Maintains and administers computer networks and related computing environments, including computer hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations. • Monitors alarms and alerts to identify network elements causing network degradation or failure. • Utilizes vendor and other network analysis tools to identify and correct problems in the network. • Monitors security posture of the network, and reports suspected violations to designated authority. Security areas to be addressed include:  Firewall, network-based anti-virus, and VPN encryption perimeter security  Intrusion detection /prevention system (IDS/IPS), vulnerability assessment (VA) tools, access control /user authentication, DoS and security attack mitigation for the Network  Intrusion detection systems, vulnerability assessment, anti-virus, access control/user authentication for Hosts  Host IDS, host VA, access control/user authentication for Applications  Input validation, encryption, access control/user authentication for data  Internal threats such as email SPAM and AVS, desktop AVS, desktop USB scanning / disablement, account authorization and disablement (network and application level), acceptable use web access and content filtering • Prepares technical proposals for adding new technologies to the network. • Reviews user and customer requests for changes or additions to the network to assess impact on network performance and provides advice and guidance on the most practical technical approach to meeting user and customer requirements. • Performs data backups and disaster recovery operations. • Installs, diagnoses, repairs, maintains and upgrades all PC and company approved BYOD (smartphones, tablets, etc.) hardware and equipment to ensure optimal performance. This includes installation of software applications, apps, applets or other company approved user productivity tools. Troubleshoots problem areas (in person, by telephone, or via email) in a timely and accurate fashion, and provides end-user assistance where required. • Maintains logs and records associated with reported problems or situations. • Provides back up as necessary to other company IT resources and assists others in understanding back up procedures for Network and System administration duties. • Remains cognizant of current trends in BYOD / mobile, social networking, virtualization, and cloud based computing as they may apply to company interactions and service delivery with customers, vendors, remote employees and other third parties that may comprise company solutions. • Provides key script and troubleshooting input to improve Help Desk Support efforts and root cause analysis efforts.

REQUIREMENTS

• Requires five or more years of relevant server systems administration experience. • Requires five or more years of relevant network administration experience. • Solid capabilities developing and working to plan and meeting deadlines. • Deep knowledge and skills in network technologies including internal and external DNS, DHCP, switching, routing, WAP, VPNs, cabling, WANs, Internet connectivity, phone systems and multiple protocols. • Deep knowledge and skills in Cisco products. • Working knowledge of multiple server operating systems including Windows Client Operating Systems, Windows Server Operating systems, Server Migrations, AVS. • Experience using VMWare, client side AVS, Multi-Function Printers and SQL Server. • Advanced computer skills utilizing MS Office and project management tools. • Must have good interpersonal skills in communications with all levels of the organization’s personnel, as well as customer and vendors. We are a 24/7/365 operation and Protection Team members must be able to work on a rotating schedule that may include varying shifts, holidays, and weekends in order to adequately support the department’s duties and responsibilities
