Jolkona is a nonprofit that brings high potential social entrepreneurs from emerging countries to Seattle for an intensive 3-week mentor-driven accelerator. These entrepreneurs are solving some of the most challenging societal issues in their communities. Our mentors include some of Seattle's best startup talent who prepare these founders to scale and engage with investors at home & abroad.

Job Description

Do you love to write and want to broaden your awareness of global development, local philanthropy and
social media trends? Do you love spreading the word about awesome projects and ideas? Do you live-tweet, follow, and friend everyone you meet? Are you as enthusiastic online as you are offline?

Jolkona seeks a smart and savvy communications intern eager to build experience in blogging, marketing, and community management. We’re looking for someone to help us engage and grow our community of partners and donors, and play a crucial role in expanding Jolkona’s reach through traditional and social media.

  • Engage Jolkona’s online community and introduce new audiences to our mission and vision.
  • Write blog posts, tweets and help manage content on our social media channels.
  • Work with Communications Manager to help design blog and newsletter content.
  • Research, identify, and engage with advocates and media influencers.
  • Track & analyze the growth and impact of Jolkona’s social media outreach.
  • Stay up to date on new social media tools, best practices and how other organizations are using them.
  • Launch campaigns!

Qualifications

  • Excellent writing and editing skills; audio/video skills a plus.
  • Active on Twitter and Facebook.
  • Currently enrolled or recently graduated with a degree in Communications, Writing, Journalism, or related fields.
  • Experience with WordPress, MailChimp , Google Analytics and other communications tools is preferred.
  • Independent and a creative self-starter.
  • Spends a lot of time online and stays up-do-date on social media trends.

Additional Information

/****This is a Volunteer/Unpaid position****/

Time Commitment:

  • About 15-20 hours a week.
  • Our office is laid back and fun, though it’s BYOC (bring your own computer).
  • Must be able to attend all company-wide meetings.
