Job Description

The Opportunity

This position is an opportunity to join a regional academics team to support the implementation of local, state and national assessments to ensure high quality and reliable student achievement data for all KIPP Austin schools.  The Assessment Coordinator is responsible for five main areas: a) support for campus assessment coordinators, b) the management and distribution of assessment materials, c) management of data collection systems, d) creation of systems to ensure compliance with state and national testing requirements, and e) support the overall curriculum team with operational expertise to ensure the coordination of all team events and activities.  The Assessment Coordinator will work collaboratively with a team of KIPP Texas and campus assessment coordinators as well as regional content area coordinators to provide support to campus leadership teams as they work to ensure that each student is able to progress on the path to and through college.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with the Academic team on the implementation of network-wide assessments such as, the creation of systems to distribute common assessments to teachers and students.

  • Assist schools in managing the processes required of state and national testing.

  • Create processes for the collection of data and communicate clearly to stakeholders network-wide to collect and use data.

  • Lead and facilitate professional development around using assessment systems.

  • Secure external resources, professional development and materials to support individual teachers, content teams and school teams in the use of assessment tools and data.

  • Support the planning and logistics for all curriculum team events including summer professional development and monthly regional days.

  • Support senior leaders with the KIPP Texas Academics Team with maintaining strong team operations including budget management, regional communication and alignment between regional teams.

Qualifications

Skills and Qualifications

Assessment Coordinator candidates will have the following experiences:

  • Bachelor’s degree (required)

  • Experience working in a K-12 education setting at a campus level as a teacher, instructional leader or operations leader or at the regional/district level as an instructional leader, academic program manager or assessment coordinator.

  • Experience working in schools, school systems or organizations that serve historically underserved students or communities.

  • Demonstrated experience in analyzing data and using results to ensure increased student achievement or to evaluate program effectiveness.

  • Experience leading professional development or teacher collaboration.

  • Experience with education technology applications used to collect, store and process assessment data such as Illuminate, as well as a high level of proficiency with document formatting and using excel/spreadsheets.

  • Experience working with diverse stakeholders and/or working with cross-functional teams.

  • Assessment Coordinator candidates will have a track record of demonstrating the following competencies:
