Job Description

A Team Leader with experience across System engineering/DevOps , who will manage a team of engineers that is responsible for the Kaltura's OVP platform and eCDN installed on customers premises around the globe. 

■ The Kaltura OnPrem™ product supports 25+ software integrations, 14+ different CDN integrations, 12 different server roles, delivering to 3 major industries with their own use cases — pick your combination...and every OnPrem™ deployment becomes unique. This means your technical and human skillset must be diverse and willing to tackle everything related to what goes into deploying an online platform that will support hundreds of thousands of end-users. These are live, production, high-user systems, that are RHEL/CentOS based.

 ■ The OnPrem™ product line will present you with one of the toughest challenges in your career while exposing you first-hand to how leading companies and educational institutions in the world use video to improve their business performances. 

The Team Leader will also:

  • Manage eCDn/On premise deployments, and responsible for the team’s deliveries. 
  • Manage the team’s pipeline, priorities, and communicate status and progress with the PMs and clients 
  • Direct management of the System Engineering members including professional growth, HR, technical leadership, hiring and training
  • Manage the System Engineering vendors , including evaluation of vendors, ongoing supervision and management
  • Leads Pre-sale estimations and requirements gathering of new projects
  • Leads deployment and maintenance best practices
  • Gather data on issues and escalate to core R&D when required
  • Troubleshoot and fix simple backend (LAMP) and frontend (HTML, jQuery, CSS) issues
  • Provide remote and on-site training to customer’s IT personnel

Qualifications

MUST haves:
  • Linux Apache MySQL PHP (LAMP) experience – or reasonable exposure – to managing live, production, high-user systems, that are preferably RHEL/CentOS based
  • SQA/UAT doesn't bother you one bit
  • Shell scripting experience
  • Some or lots of experience with SVN or Git
  • Your genetic makeup drives you to discover fixes or workarounds on your own when documentation is lacking
  • When at first you can't figure things out, it bothers you to the point of HAVING to figure things out. "Troubleshoot" is practically your middle name
  • Must be comfortable working in a dynamic and challenging environment, interacting with many different people and teams with differing goals
  • Great customer service and communication (oral and written) skills
  • You're known for your ability to remain calm and focused when others are showing the stress they're under 
  • You're a "self-documenter" whose work style is pretty orderly

Nice to haves:  Don't worry – you can probably learn these just like you've learned other technologies; but we won’t complain if you have them... 

  • Video experience – encoding, streaming
  • CDN configuration experience (Akamai, etc.)
  • Experience working with VMware ESX and other virtual environments
  • Network experience working with production load balancers, SSL certificates, firewalls, VPNs, network and storage devices
  • Hands-on experience with web development – Debugging or fixing HTML, JavaScript or CSS issues
