Job Description

Day Shifts Available

A skilled industrial equipment technician, you will repair and upgrade a wide range of material handling equipment, including forklifts, golf carts, floor care equipment, pallet jacks, reach trucks, batteries, chargers, battery changers.  You will work with the Maintenance Manager in providing information on the equipment for budgets, ROI’s, repairs and replacements.    You will be providing the best and most responsive customer service possible as well as dedicating yourself to functioning as a helpful, respectful and vital member of our team.  

Job Responsibilities

As a Forklift Service Technician you may have several jobs open waiting for repair at any time, you will need to when the parts are scheduled to arrive and when you will need to return to the site to complete the job.  You will need estimated time on the upcoming jobs so that a quote can be provided to the customer. 

Examples (not limited to):

  •           Troubleshooting customer equipment problems and conferring with Maintenance Admin Assistant in getting approval from customer before making repairs. 
  •           Completing each repair/service in a timely and professional manner
  •           Completing and submitting all required paperwork
  •           Managing your workload effectively
  •           Following all company policies and procedures, particularly those involving safety
  •           Conducting regular service and inspection of all forklifts
  •           Ensuring that the equipment is functioning smoothly and is safe for operating.
  •           Interacting with forklift drivers to know of any malfunctions in the forklifts
  •           Test driving the forklifts to detect issues and repairing the same
  •           Working with Maintenance Manager in maintaining a record of the service cycles and the part changes made in the truck
  •           Following all safety norms laid down by the industry for work related functions
  •           Placing requisitions for spare parts with maintenance admin assistant
  •           Ensuring the proper handling of all repair tools and testing the equipment
  •           Following all orders and tasks as assigned by the Admin Assistant/Supervising Manager

Qualifications

Skills and Specifications 

  •           Should have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  •           Ability to detect all technical malfunctions in the forklift trucks
  •           The aptitude of effectively managing time to meet necessary deadlines
  •           Degree or diploma in mechanical material handling
  •           2 years of experience of working as forklift mechanic
  •           Ability to provide your own hand tools
  •           Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  •           Solid computer skills
  •           Strong multitasking and time management skills
  •           Ability to lift 50 pounds or more  and to crouch and/or crawl in confined areas
