Job Description

The role:

Create, edit, and maintain end-user software documentation for our high-performance GPU enabled OLAP database and complimentary family of products. A Technical Writer at Kinetica will work with some of the best minds in the industry while putting their analytical and writing skills to immediate use.

Your focus:

  • Work with the CTO’s office staff, developers, software quality engineers, and program managers to drive the scope and direction of product end-user documentation

  • Focus on audience subsets including:

    • End users of our full-fledged modern database engine

    • Developers of integration software pieces using our connectors and APIs

    • Software administrators

    • Database administrators

  • Analyze, interpret, compose, and edit information to develop documentation in various media

  • Gather knowledge about customer documentation needs and produce usable polished content

Qualifications

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Strong analytical skills
  • Motivation, Passion, Integrity, Teamwork, Customer-Focus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (for example, computer science); or in English, Professional Writing, or other language-related field. If a non-technical degree, a background in technology is desirable

  • 2-5 years of experience writing technical documentation

  • Basic familiarity with the SDLC and software development

  • Excellent writing skills

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact frequently with technical research and development personnel

  • Ability to work productively in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment

  • Ability to problem solve and work independently as well as be productive in a collaborative environment

  • Strong analytical and logical reasoning skills

  • Knowledge of (preferred): Read the Docs, Markdown, reStructuredText, Sphinx, CSS, JavaScript, Python, Java, SQL, Linux
  • Ability to work full-time in Arlington VA. Strong preference to candidates already in the Washington DC area.
