The Director of Learning and Development is responsible for leading a team to build learning experiences and programs supporting business priortities for the merchandising, marketing and product groups using a highly innovative and creative approach relevant to a retail business.

  • Demonstrated expertise as a consultant, innovator and thought leader that brings creative learning solutions that build organizational skills, competencies and effectiveness and delivers business outcomes.
  • Deep knowledge of innovative adult learning techniques and methodologies.
  • Ability to develop strong collaborative relationships with learning, business and HR partners and leaders to ensure relevant and integrated curriculums.
  • Develop and implement learning strategies that leverage current industry best practices and ensures creativity and relevance as part of design to ensure adoption, impact and business outcomes.
  • Provide strategic perspective to problem solving and issue resolution across multiple teams and businesses.
  • Leads and develops a highly effective team capable of consistently delivering cutting edge learning programs and curriculums.
  • Create robust and innovative learning assessments and evaluations that align to business outcomes. Analyze feedback data and lead program improvements as necessary.
  • Prepares and manages annual Learning project budget and timelines to ensure deliverables are on time and within budget.

Qualifications

You will meet or exceed these with the following...
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • 10 plus years leading a team, preferably with an instructional design function
  • Retail experience with training design accountabilities
  • Merchant experience required
  • Human Resources experience highly preferred
  • Demonstrated success creating a measurement strategy to determine business impacts and effectiveness of learning programs
  • Change management and team development experience
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate and interact with all levels of the organization including senior leadership
  • Ability to effectively facilitate small and large group learning sessions with a variety of audiences, including senior leadership
