Mr. X is on the lookout for enthusiastic Layout Artists that are passionate about producing hyper-realistic VFX scenes. We love the work we do and always strive to exceed client expectations. From previs to camera extensions, our layout work on feature film and high concept TV spans the spectrum from design through final camera and environments.
Leveraging our production workflow and working as or under a Lead, this artist is responsible for assembling shots and sequences and ensures that everything is setup properly which includes staging, complex layouts, environment builds, creating or extending camera motion and lensing, plotting scene action, assist in pre- and post- visualization, and ensures smooth transitions all the way down to lighting and comp.
-Splicing, blending or extending existing camera tracks, and creating camera moves from scratch in Maya.
-Work closely with the Environments team to create realistic 3D environment layouts in Maya and Houdini.
-Create and solve accurate Tech, Post and Previs scenes using real world measurements, physics and 'on set' logic.
-Laying out and animating characters and props with rough blocking for timing and later addition of final animation.
-Create a virtual set in 3D (Maya) using lidar, on-set measurements and pictures, camera information, and scaling reference of characters and objects.
-Must work closely with Assets, Environments, Animation, FX, comp and Lighting, making sure all departments are supporteed and able to work with the layouts/environments.
-Thorough knowledge and experience with Maya.
-Working knowledge of 3DE, Nuke and Houdini.
-Meticulous attention to detail with a great eye for camera motion, cinematography and composition.
-Tracking and Matchmoving experience a plus.
-Animation experience a plus.
-On-set production experience is desirable.
-Previous stereoscopic film production experience a plus.
-Must work well under pressure for potentially short turnaround deadlines.
-Able to take direction and feedback well from a lead or supervisor.
-A minimum of two years of feature film experience required.
