The Head of Studio is responsible for the effective day to day running of the local studio and ensuring alignment to our global framework and strategy; including overseeing the implementation of objectives, shaping and planning, managing financial and operational risk and driving business levels.

 

As part of the Senior Management team, your operational approach will inform, support and implement change programmes such as business transformation and organisation redesign, but also grow a corporate culture that fosters a fast learning and continuously improving organisation.

 

 

 

Job Description

  • Leadership
    • Be the local face of MPC
      • Online Video Messages and other digital comms
      • Drive and own local events, Monthlies, Quarterlies and awards
      • Engage with the whole facility by be approachable and open to discuss any issues or success
      • Support and engage with MPC employee proposition to ensure senior management, local management participation and representation

o   Be a mentor, ambassador and representative of MPC’s culture

o   Create partnerships with your Head of HR/Talent to create a globally aligned inclusive and positive culture for our teams.

o   Actively drive and influence people’s behavior and actions to ensure they are aligned with the company values, vision and mission

o   Facilitate local leaders and ensure management walk the talk

    • Unite and drive the local Senior management team; ensuring there is cohesion between global direction and local application
      • Facilitate the process to grow internal cohesion and a shared culture for the local facility
      • Motivate local senior management teams to meet objectives that are in line with global direction
    • Encourage maximum performance and dedication from all employees at MPC Film
    • Promote communication between colleagues for the benefit of information flow and to curb any problems that arise
    • Direct management responsibility for local Department Managers; ensuring effective people management of each department
      • Mentor / Coach the Department Managers in conjunction with the local talent managers and Head of HR/Talent
      • Drive consistency of performance, management and workflow
      • Drive local and global initiatives through the Department Managers; including overseeing roll out and ongoing effective implementation
      • Ensure departments operate in accordance with company policies and communications are cascaded and managed accordingly/appropriately (including hiring, engagement, salary management, promotion, hours, welfare management)
      • Support and oversee Department managers with team set up (inducing implementation of shot teams, department meetings, succession planning, contract management)
      • Be a key commutator for the team and encourage all member to use the tool available
      • Ensure Department Manager effectively manage the employee relationship with the artist, including being the communicator regarding key matter relating to their employment. Collaborating with Talent where relevant.
    • Organise relevant meetings and build an environment in which employees willingly produce maximum work and be their best at work
    • Ensure talent is hired and retained in accordance with MPC Film’s financial targets and policies, but also people who exhibit the MPC Film values and positively influence the culture. Including overseeing and supporting the hiring of key positions within MPC (ie HoD, EP)
    • Collaborate with your Global HOS counterparts to ensure consistent delivery of Initiatives, communication, best working practice, shared learnings and vision.
    • Work with Local Talent teams (including Comms), Senior Management and Management teams to make sure we are keeping our teams informed and promoting a consistent tone and image of MPC that is linked to our core values.

 

  • Standards
    • Maintain local quality by establishing and enforcing MPC standards

o   To ensure that there is a clear and consistent strategic alignment with local senior and management groups; including cohesion and consistency with messaging and reason

o   Oversee the implementation of initiatives to ensure they are effectively adopted by local departments

o   Analyse the current local operational and business process on a regular basis process and proactively recommend changes in-line with the overall strategy

o   Set comprehensive goals/KPI for performance for the local facility ensure they are in line with global objectives

o   Coordinate efforts by establishing procurement, marketing and technical services policies and practices; coordinating actions with relevant staff, in line with global direction

    • Work with local senior management team to ensure facility is equipped with proper resources – talent, technology etc

 

 

  • Financial and Strategy
    • Responsible for all financial operations including budgets; forecasts; projections for the local studio
    • Reviews analyses of activities, costs, operations and forecast data to determine progress toward stated studio goals and objectives
    • Develop strategic studio plan accounting for financial opportunities; present assumptions; recommend objectives
    • Take care of local expenditure
    • Work with the travel manager and other operations to make sure we are getting the best deals for our travel, accurate reporting and effective workflows and procedures
  • External Representative
    • Build MPC’s image by collaborating with government, community organisations, and employees; enforcing ethical business practices
    • Drive MPC activities within the local industry and community
    • Lead local lobbying initiatives including tax credits, immigration etc
  • Infrastructure
    • Work with Local and Global Resourcing managers to ensure we have correct space for our teams and assist other facilities cope with capacity.
    • Work with Global Head of Facilities on building and lease requirements
    • Ensure facility is maintained and in good running order
