Job Description

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing lighting tools in Katana and Nuke
  • Supporting the team by helping the artists to trouble shoot technical challenges in key shots
  • Occasionally you will be required to undertake the duties of a Lighting TD on more technical shots
  • Providing technical assistance to Leads, Key Artists and Artists
  • Working with Leads to define technical challenges on the show
  • Solving technical issues and as a result, increase efficiency

Example Tasks:

  • Work with the Lighting Team on technically challenging shots
  • Develop scripts or methods to optimize shows workflow
  • Demonstrate reported issues from the lighting team using simple scenes for investigation by the software team
  • Assist Leads in more technical aspects of show setup
  • Work with department developer in testing tools
  • Contribute to documentation of tools and workflows within the department

Qualifications

 

  • Proven technical ability in a large feature-film VFX production environment
  • Thorough understanding of techniques and technologies related to CG rendering and compositing
  • Strong communication skills and problem-solving skills
  • Good understanding of shading, lighting and rendering terminology
  • Good understanding of production pipelines
  • Good knowledge of PRMan or similar production renderer and of node-based compositing software
  • General understanding of linux/unix-based operating systems
  • Python and MEL scripting experience
  • Ability to manage a time-sensitive workload with an urgent and extremely organised manner
  • Ability to take direction and structure work practices so that design changes can be made efficiently
