Job Description


Reporting directly to the Head of HR, the Talent Manager/HR Advisor is responsible for providing support services to all MPC employees and finding ways to increase employee engagement and motivation. The HR Advisor/Talent Manager works closely with artists and production teams while partnering directly with management.


  • Ensure all contract information and employee data are correct, and properly reflected in HR database
  • Work closely with all stakeholders to ensure the smooth transition of contracts and work permit applications
  • Track and record data on staff retention/exits to identify trends, vacation and absences, work permit dates and details, employment anniversary dates, salary and performance records, expense information and other relevant data
  • Ensure new enrolments, changes and terminations are completed in a timely and accurate manner

Induction & Orientation:

  • Ensure all new hires are provided with a first-class welcome to MPC Montreal
  • Support international joiners with settling into Montreal – finding housing, setting up banking, sourcing mobile phones, enrolling in school and child care programs, etc.
  • Be a point of contact for questions or queries for new hires upon joining MPC
  • Lead joiner initiatives including orientation, facility tours, promoting MPC culture and ensuring appropriate workstation set-up
  • Respond to employee and other stakeholder inquires in a timely and courteous customer service manner

Performance and Talent Management:

  • Coach and guide managers in communication skills and performance management
  • Assess Training and Development requirements and identify future potential (including succession planning)
  • Deliver Training and Development best practices to support the goals of the organization
  • Employ a proactive approach to attaining and managing artist feedback
  • Enable employees to better manage their careers and development by facilitating the performance appraisal process and identifying career path options
  • Review appraisal paperwork with managers and ensure its alignment with the company strategy and business needs
  • Work closely with Department Heads contributing to discussions and negotiations surrounding employee contracts, salaries and development, and ensuring the adoption of a clear and consistent approach
  • Constantly review contract end dates and crewing options in conjunction with management

  • Support employee welfare by ensuring the possession of all necessary documents and information including but not limited to  visas and work permits
  • Ensure that all employees are able to do their jobs and develop their careers with MPC globally


Technical Knowledge/Skills:

  • Strong MS Office skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Ability to communicate fluently in French and English


  • 3-5 years of progressive HR experience in high-tech, creative or artistic environment
  • Experience in Talent Management as well as Training and Development
  • Human Resources Management diploma or equivalent
  • CHRP designation or willingness to obtain is an asset
