Job Description

The Editorial and Data I/O Assistant is responsible for the movement of digital assets throughout MPC. This includes but is not restricted to the upload and download of data, physical media (ingest / handling), client sends (management / monitoring), technical QC, virus scans, physical and web media ‘rips’. This role sits with Production Operations, which encompasses RTA, Data I/O and Data Ops. Scheduling of screening room. Maintaining, Setup, and Running equipment (calibrate, trouble shooting, test).  


Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating the transfer of assets between MPC sites around the world
  • Run screening room sessions via Cinesync, RV, TVIPS as well as 2K reviews via Baselight
  • Managing data to ensure storage resources are used efficiently
  • Archiving and restoring data if required
  • Ensuring the security policies and procedures of MPC and its clients are fully adhered to
  • Coordinating with artists, Production and Editorial to ensure required assets are available
  • Fulfill client sends and downloads
  • Manage the tracking and allocation of physical media drives both internally and externally
  • Working a shift pattern occasionally to support the global needs of the business
  • Coordinating review session between multiple sites and clients globally
  • Manage screening room schedule 
  • Coordinating with clients and multiple departments about screenings, equipment, and other needs
  • Work with clients and imaging department on review specs on projects
  • Calibrate projector to ensure proper color space standards
  • Projector lamp change, filter and projector enclosure cleaning
  • Setup and test all telecommunication devices and platforms
  • Coordinating delivery of all material for reviews  


  • Knowledge of Baselight, TVIPS, and RV
  • Understanding of color-space, aspect ratios, LUTs, CDLs, and file formats
  • An interest in developing skills and progression within visual effects
  • At least one years’ experience of using PC, Mac and Linux with some basic scripting would be an advantage
  • Basic knowledge of video formats and ways in which assets are received/delivered
  • Ability to rapidly pick up and learn new tools and techniques
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to handle a fast-paced, occasionally high-pressure environment
  • An interest in a service desk environment and service desk processes
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to use initiative and prioritize work loads
  • Problem analyzing and problem solving
  • Willingness to do shift-work
  • An awareness of security principles and procedures
  • Practical knowledge of editing
