Job Description

This role is responsible for the manufacturing, logistics, supply chain, and internal operations for a high tech company developing a transformational mobile computing platform.

Responsibilities


  • Develop a supply chain for an emerging technology from the ground up
  • Identify, research, and qualify, supply chain partners for mechanical, electrical, and optical components and assemblies
  • Direct external partners to build custom hardware components and subassemblies in accordance with Magic Leap specifications
  • Oversee operations to deliver internally developed Magic Leap components at high volume, with exceptional quality, and world class operational performance
  • Recruit, hire, and build a Supply Chain and Operations personnel
  • Participate in the development of a quality management system to ISO and other worldwide standards as required
  • Develop, implement, and track key supply chain and operations performance metrics such as inventory turns, DPHU, process capability, yield, on time delivery
  • Negotiate with component, capital equipment, and contract manufacturers (both domestic and overseas) and delivering year of year cost reductions
  • Deliver consumer products to market at scale with exceptional quality
  • Partner with development engineering to ensure designs are developed with knowledge of internal and external suppliers process capability
  • Implement a prototype supply chain that emulates the production line to ensure design and process related issues are identified, root caused, and resolved prior to production ramp
  • Participate in the establishment of a service and customer support organization, and work closely with engineering on reliability and other failure mode issues

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience working in a Supply Chain and Operations team focused on delivering a complex consumer electronics product to market at scale with exceptional quality
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Continuous Improvement methodologies
  • Demonstrated ability to rapidly ramp a complex consumer electronic/electro-optical products to high volumes (i.e. millions of units per year) is a must
  • Proven track record for negotiating competitive pricing for components, assemblies, and finished goods
  • Experience with supply chains that include mechanical, electrical, and optical components and assemblies; PCB and factory level test, calibration, and product delivery
  • Experience in optics fabrication, test, and metrology is a strong plus
  • Expertise in implementing and managing operation performance metrics such as inventory turns, on time delivery, DPHU, test time, Cp, CpK
  • Proven track record of delivering cost reductions and performance improvements that led to improved margins and increased profitability.
  • Familiar with Early Supplier Involvement at the early stages of product development
  • Strong business acumen, analytical and decision making abilities
  • Strong consultative and influencing skills. Excellent communication skills (oral, written), great listener/ presence and can interact comfortably with both senior leadership and junior associates
  • Proven experience managing and influencing effectively in a matrix driven environment
  • Must be willing to travel 25-35%

Education

  • Bachelors, or Masters Degree, in Engineering or operations management
  • MBA preferred
