Position:  Fabrication Manager
 
Location:  Near Topeka, KS
 
Business Summary:
Our client is a rapidly growing high volume, precision machining metal working manufacturer.  They have a very customizable product and a large number of SKUs.  

Position Summary:
The Fabrication Manager manages and coordinates the fabrication department and workers who use hand tools, dies, drills, fixtures, milling machines, presses, sanders, saws, shears and welding machines to produce small, or large parts, or sub-assemblies.  They will manage the Fabrication Supervisors and Leads who oversee people and resources in their area to ensure on-time manufacture of product that fully meets customer expectations and area quality requirements, while meeting production efficiency and operating cost standards.
 
The Fabrication Manager role is a “hands on” management level position.  It requires the individual to effectively balance being directly involved with Leads and Operators on the floor, with leading departmental improvements.
 
Education/Learning Experience:

    Degree in Engineering preferred or relevant experience
    Experience with aluminum or metal fabrication
    Powder Coating and Welding experience is a definite plus

Work Experience:

    At least 5 years of experience in a high volume “job shop”
    Experience with milling, sawing, laser cutting, punching and forming
    5+ years supervisory experience in a fabrication environment

Candidate Skills:

    Detail-oriented in planning, organizing, and making sure things get done
    Ability to handle multiple priorities and record basic production and quality information in writing.
    Ability to read a print, and monitor basic quality checks from the print

Positions Requirements:

    Assure all work is in accordance with work instructions and CTQ’s
    Develop and maintain a trained workforce to fulfill requirements and ensure continuity of skills
    Analyze and effectively solve problems
    Assure materials (raw and finished) are accurately maintained and reported

Reports:

    Reports to the VP Operations
    Direct reports are 3 Fabrication Supervisors (one per shift)
