Job Description


Job Objective

 

To assist store management in general operations; helping to ensure a positive and efficient work environment. She/he will help develop the (employee) team; integrate rehabilitation services; offer quality retail merchandise; and carry out the Marion Goodwill Industries, Inc. mission statement.

 

Essential Job Functions

Assist in recruiting, selecting, developing and evaluating employees. Responsible for maintaining open communication.

Maintain confidentiality; ensures correct information goes only to the appropriate person(s).

Assist in developing and maintaining store appearance, ensuring a clean, attractive, contemporary look.

Aid in effective communication between store personnel and management.

Assist in operating effective sorting and pricing strategies, using procedural guidelines.

Perform administrative tasks, including: accurate daily/weekly/monthly reporting; check-in and close-out procedures, including cash management.

Ensure that the store meets or exceeds daily production goals in both wares and textiles.

Responsible for work areas being clean and organized at the end of each shift (5 minute drill).

Demonstrate and educates excellent customer service skills.

Demonstrate consistent positive behavior with internal and external customers.

Assist in developing promotions and special events with store management.

Ensure compliance with safety practices and regulations

Assess emergency situations and takes action as the need indicates reporting any such situation in writing and forwarding to the Safety Coordinator at the Corporate Office within 24 hours.

Attend meetings/training as scheduled and integrates information from training into store operations where needed.

Provide constant surveillance of the sales floor and backroom for safety and loss prevention measures.

Count and balance the register cash drawers and safe daily. Prepare daily bank deposits.

Is aware of and follows all company policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook and ongoing training.

Work as scheduled, being flexible as needed.

Maintain a positive, team-oriented relationship with peers and supervisors

Present a positive public image for the betterment of the organization.

Responsible for proper use of all monitoring/security systems (cameras and alarms) and communicating

any questionable behavior to direct supervisor or other appropriate person.

Follow all safety policies and procedures.

Appropriately dressed in accordance with the employee dress code.

Maintain confidentiality; ensures correct information goes only to the appropriate person(s).

Assist other management in ensuring compliance with store conditioning reports.

Assist other management in ensuring corporate audit standards are met.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

 

 

 

 

Qualifications

Critical Skills

High school graduate with further preparation preferred; one year experience in retail sales preferred or demonstrated potential for management; leadership abilities (good communication skills; consistency; idea promotion); organized and accurate; creative and flexible problem solving; desire to work with rehabilitation clients, employees and the public; team oriented; appropriate grooming and dressing; ability physically sort/hang/display retail items; be able to stand for long periods of time, stoop, squat, bend and twist, lift up to 50 pounds in a safe manner or obtain a safe method of doing so. Able to pass alcohol/drug screening; criminal background check required; Maintain a valid Driver’s License, a driving record acceptable to Goodwill’s insurance provider and adequate personal liability insurance.

Job Location

Assigned Store. May travel to other locations throughout the organization; some travel required for meetings and conferences.
