Job Description

Essential Job Functions

Recruit, selects, develops, evaluates and counsels employees. Maintains open communications.


Perform/supervise administrative task, including: accurate daily/weekly/monthly reporting; ordering of

supplies and equipment; check-in and close-out procedures, including cash management.


Receive and review hiring applications and verify minimum qualifications are met.


Operate effective sorting and pricing strategies, using procedural guidelines.


Terminates employees with permission of direct supervisor.


Schedule personnel to meet store requirements. Recommends additional staffing as justified by demand.


Develop and maintains store appearance, ensuring a clean, attractive, contemporary look.


Demonstrate and educates excellent customer service skills.


Responsible for meeting, or exceeding daily production goals in both wares and textiles.


Responsible for work areas being clean and organized at the end of each shift (5 minute drill).


Effectively manages collection of donations and booth areas to ensure overall image and to maximize donor and landlord satisfaction where applicable.


May be required to temporarily assist in other locations.


Responsible for maintaining confidentiality. Ensuring correct information goes only to the appropriate person(s).


Develop and promotes special events/sales with the direction of the Retail Director/V.P. of Retail Operations.


Provide constant surveillance of the sales floor and backroom for safety and loss prevention measures.


Count and balance the register cash drawers and safe daily. Prepare daily bank deposits.


Demonstrate consistent positive behavior with internal and external customers.


Assure record keeping is accurate, complete and forwarded to the proper location in a timely manner as required.


Responsible for operating a profitable retail store.


Ensure compliance with safety practices and regulations.


Responsible for proper use of all monitoring/security systems (cameras and alarms) and communicating any

questionable behavior to direct supervisor or other appropriate person.


Assess emergency situations and takes action as the need indicates.


Notify V.P. of Retail Operations or Retail Director of any property or physical injury by phone immediately.


Reviews all accidents/incidents and unsafe conditions, completes proper reports and forwards them in writing to the Safety Coordinator at the Corporate Office within 24 hours.


Is aware of and follows all company policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook and ongoing training.


Ensure that all assigned employees are in compliance with company policies and procedures.


Work as scheduled, being flexible when needed.


Attend meetings/trainings as scheduled.


Present a positive public image for the betterment of the organization.


Maintain a positive, team-oriented relationship with peers and supervisors.


Follow all safety policies and procedures.


Appropriately dressed in accordance with the employee dress code.


Ensuring compliance with store conditioning reports.


Ensure corporate compliance audit standards met.


Perform other related duties as assigned.


Critical Skills

High school graduate with further preparation preferred; three years experience in retail sales preferred; 2 to 3 years supervisory experience required; leadership abilities (good communication skills; organization; accuracy; consistency; idea promotion); creative and flexible problem solving; desire to work with rehabilitation clients, employees and the public; team oriented; appropriate grooming and dressing; ability physically sort/hang/display retail items; be able to stand for long periods of time, stoop, squat, bend and twist, lift up to 50 pounds in a safe manner or obtain a safe method of doing so. Able to pass alcohol/drug screening; criminal background check required; Maintain a valid driver’s license, a driving record acceptable to Goodwill’s insurance provider and adequate personal liability insurance.
