Job Description

New York City’s largest and oldest independent bookkeeping firm currently has openings for full time, full charge bookkeepers.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to,

:

  • Inputting and tracking income and expenses
  • Processing accounts payable and receivable
  • Reconciling multiple bank accounts, credit cards and merchant accounts
  • Producing financial reports (trial balances, profit and loss statements, etc.)
  • Maintaining files
  • Analyzing the general ledger and sub-ledgers
  • Assisting with the preparation of year end financials for filing tax returns, communicating with CPAs, and facilitating annual not-for-profit audits
  • Assisting the owner and supervising bookkeepers with other duties as assigned
  • Payroll and sales tax

 

Two years of experience is preferred but will consider strong candidates who present with less. However, this is not an entry level position.

 

Expertise in QuickBooks is a must! All candidates will be tested before an offer is made and must be current of the latest versions. Knowledge of Peachtree, MAS90 or other accounting software is helpful, but not required.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements: Associate's Degree. Two years of experience in accounting/bookeeping preferred. Proficiency in Excel and Quick Books is a must. Knowledge of Sage 50, MAS 90, Xero, etc. is a plus. Applicants must possess good written and oral communication skills and must be organized, detail-oriented and able to work independently.
