Job Description

The Bilingual (Spanish/English) Driver and Program Assistant will have three (3) main roles: 

1)      Assist in coordinating all service activities for patients on the Bus to include assisting both the clinical and support service staff to ensure optimal care for patient and their family  

2)      Serves as the lead driver of the 33 foot Bus, and ensures that the Bus is in safe operating conditions at all times.

3)      Assist staff in planning all special events related to the services offered on the Bus

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  Maintains an excellent driving record in addition to the requirements listed below:

 

Education and/or Experience – High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.  Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or Counseling and/or three (3) years of community service work experience preferred.  Requires knowledge of community resources and issues confronting an urban population.  Requires a minimum of one (1) to two (2) years of experience in driving commercial vehicles and knowledge/experience with vehicle maintenance issues.  Must be bilingual in English and Spanish and have clean driving record.  A thorough understanding and working knowledge of patient/client confidentiality issues and HIPAA compliance/regulations is essential.

 

Reasoning Ability – Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out moderately-complex, multi-step instructions and make appropriate independent decisions as necessary.

 

Physical Demands – Regularly required sitting; frequently required to reach with hands and arms, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk or hear; must be able to lift objects up to thirty (30) pounds.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

 

Work Environment – Mostly in a typical mobile clinic bus and/or office setting with quite to moderate noise level.  May be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.  May be exposed to extreme cold and heat due to outside weather conditions.
