Job Description

The Dental Assistant assists the dentist in many aspects of direct patient care and performs other clinical and clerical functions independently of direct supervision.  Sets up and cleans dental unit for timely turnover. The Dental Assistant will also be responsible for providing appropriate oral health information to Mary Center Staff.

Education and/or Experience – graduation from an approved dental assistant course; or graduation from high school and one year of on-the-job training as a dental assistant and current CPR (BLS) certification for this position, and required x-ray training when needed; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to be clinically fluent in Spanish or other second language is preferred.Must qualify to acquire a DC Dental Assisting License within 60 days of hire.

 

Reasoning Ability – Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out moderately-complex, multi-step instructions and make appropriate independent decisions as necessary

 

Physical Demands – Regularly required sitting; frequently required to reach with hands and arms, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk or hear; must be able to lift objects up to twenty-five (25) pounds.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

 

Work Environment – Mostly in a mobile unit with moderate to loud noise level.
