We take great pride in making unconventional campaigns for brands in conventional categories.  Our patented blend of storytelling for emerging media takes a small army of Mekanistas to pull off.  What is a Mekanista you ask? The Mekanism New Business/Marketing Manager is a self-assure, collaborative, creative-oriented, problem-solver. He/she works directly with Mekanism’s President/CEO on new business pitches while also managing Mekanism’s PR and Marketing efforts.

 

It is the New Business Manager’s job to ensure that Mekanism value (creative, innovation and production) is woven into everything we do and that everything we do be executed in a proactive, über-organized manner.

 

About two thirds of the job will be spent working directly with the CEO and Head of Strategy on New Business, and the remaining third working on Mekanism Marketing and PR.

 

 

Key Areas of Responsibility

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Be the Go-To Person on all things New York New Business
    • Maintain overall organization & leadership of the Mekanism NY pitch roster, schedule, presentation decks and pitch teams.
    • Be the main information artery between the President/CEO and Head of Strategy and all current pitch activity.
    • Schedule, attend, document and facilitate follow-up on all new business client meetings.
    • Work directly with New Business Clients.
    • Do fast-paced, down and dirty research on prospective clients.

 

  • Flow Between Pitches, PR and Marketing Effortlessly
    • Manage multiple pitches, and projects at any given time. 
    • Manage award show entries.
    • Relish in the diversity and speed at which Mekanism moves.

 

  • Effectively Work Within a Team
    • In every meeting: foster teamwork and productivity; bring something unique.
    • Learn the various arms of production at Mekanism, being able to represent each division to our clients.
    • Manage up to CEO and Head of Strategy.

 

  • Support Financial Organization and Performance
    • Coordinate with our Operations Department to create agency fee proposals and creative development fee proposals for new business.
    • Open jobs and scope each new business pitch so we can manage and track our internal performance.

 

  • Have Epic Ideas
    • Bring new ideas to the table on how Mekanism can improve its new business and client strategy departments.
    • Eventually contribute to the new business creative development process.

  • You must be awesome.
  • You should definitely have a passion for organization, problem solving, creativity, brands, and above all, new business.
  • You thrive in a fast-paced environment where no day is the same and can sometimes be ambiguous
  • You have the ability to change direction flawlessly on a dime.
  • You can make the tough calls, and speaking of tough, you’re also called the “velvet hammer.”
  • You must have client facing experience and passion to be a Mekanism ambassador to the ad community, consultants and potential clients.
  • You must be self-assured, self-starting, charismatic and quick on your feet representing Mekanism in front of clients alongside our President/CEO.
  • You could have 3-5 years of relevant or not so relevant advertising/marketing experience.  Though, prior marketing or new business experience is a plus.
  • You get excited by words like “strategy”, “innovation”, “nimble”, and “Mekanism.”
