Looking ahead to 2015, we are introducing MobCon Digital Health which will zero in on advances in technology that will transform healthcare. This first of its kind conference in the Midwest will feature keynote presentations by some of the top minds in the industry, plus educational tracks on everything from personalized big data to future health. We will continue to grow MobCon regionally, internationally and vertically and are therefore building our conference team.

We are offering the right individual the rare opportunity to help build a conference and learning enterprise that already has great momentum and is on-track to becoming a rare source for learning about (and promoting) mobile and digital technologies and strategies. MobCon is a conference originally conceived of in 2012 to generate new business for MentorMate. The conference quickly took off and is now seen as a thought leader in mobile and digital technology and our dream is to expand this to regional, international and vertical markets. We are looking for a real conference pro - someone who has years of experience in conference management, sponsorship sales and marketing, content/program development, stage production, site selection, contract/vendor negotiations, and P&L management.  

The goal is to grow this team over time. With this in mind, the role will change as we bring new talent on-board. As our conferences evolve and expand, this role will become increasingly centered on operations and less on content and sales. At the onset, we are looking for a conference management leader who gets all of it, and has demonstrated success in leading the growth and success of professional conferences end-to-end (from concept to execution to profitability and expansion). In this role, you will also balance the need to grow MobCon with the need to leverage MobCon as a lead channel for MentorMate.

Job Description

  • Site selection, contract negotiations, and vendor management - working with the best (in terms of quality and cost-efficiency) hotels, convention centers, audio visual companies, speakers bureaus, etc.
  • Budget planning, project management, working closely with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders including advisory boards, our marketing team, key partners and sponsors, client services, finance, hotels, convention centers, etc.  
  • Sponsorship sales and relationship management to include helping to shape the value we can bring to our sponsors’ and exhibitors’ marketing programs. What is somewhat unique to us are the opportunities we can provide supporters of our conferences in terms of year-long benefits and value.
  • Managing all on-site operations and staffing (which will include staff from MentorMate as well as contractors and temps).
  • Helping to create online conferences, webinars, post-show promotion, research generated from conferences and white papers.
  • Ensure visibility to Conference programs, and calendars across the organization as needed
  • Working cross-functionally with teams, primarily our marketing department, to achieve marketing milestones. Also accountable for maintaining related websites and web content, and providing leadership around technology and event materials, including the MobCon app.
  • Providing leadership to MentorMate for MeetUps, employee and client events, open houses, and workshops 
  • Other duties or projects as assigned


Qualifications

  • BA or BS with 7+ years relevant experience working on marketing and event programs. CMP is interesting to us but not necessarily preferred.
  • Hugely detailed oriented with the ability to prioritize and plan like no other.
  • Demonstrated success in growing revenue and profits
  • Demonstrated success in the research, conceptualization and launch of profitable new conference concepts.
  • Unparalleled agility and change management skills. We are looking for someone who has been a part of high-growth, entrepreneurial organization and understands that we don’t have it all figured out and that they are an important factor in doing so. If you are passive or complacent, look somewhere else - we need people who take initiative and manage-up.  
  • You will have demonstrated over time the ability to resolve problems and issues quickly.
  • 15-20% travel including overseas
  • Drive for results - you are a goal-setter who recognizes the need to put metrics in place and to lead your team, vendors and partners towards meeting them.
