Mercury Insurance, a leader in the auto insurance industry for over 50 years, is seeking a highly motivated candidate to join our Georgia Auto Damage team as our next Insurance Auto Appraiser in West-Southwest Atlanta (Cobb, Fulton, Clayton, and Fayette counties).

 

This position includes use of a Company car and gas card, with travel up to 50% of your work time.

 

As an Auto Appraiser, you will travel to various locations throughout your assigned territory to inspect and evaluate physical damage to cars that result from first and thirty party claims. You will also determine the current market value of replacement parts, and estimate the total cost of repair. This information will help you work with repair facilities to reach and settle repair costs, and to negotiate them if necessary.

 

Auto Appraisers are responsible for documenting their findings in inspection reports, including written estimates, appraisals, and photographs in order to help Mercury determine liability and reach equitable settlements.

 

Excellent customer service skills are essential for success in this role. Demonstrating compassion and empathy is paramount as you assist Mercury customers in settling their claims and help them secure repairs for their vehicles. You are also responsible for building and maintaining positive relationships with repair facilities in order to ensure mutually successful working relationships.

Qualifications

  • Worker characteristics are normally acquired through completion of a high school diploma, and 1-2 years of related auto experience.
  • Appraisal skills – Basic knowledge of appraisal theory and technique required. Must understand automobile components, current values, and repair practices in order to develop estimates and secure necessary repairs.
  • Analytical skills – Makes complex, accurate assessments of automobile damage and repairability.
  • Interpersonal skills – Communicates professionally and diplomatically with customers, attorneys, Company personnel, and other concerned parties. Explains the estimation and repair process to customers, and negotiates fair settlements with repair facilities.
  • Time management – Balances multiple priorities with ease and provides timely follow up to external and internal customers.
