We’re currently building a new commercial organization and expanding our other functions to support this strategy.

The Director, Managed Markets is responsible for developing and leading the commercial payer access launch strategic planning and execution for edaravone (MCI-186), an innovative solution approved in Japan and granted Orphan Drug status by the FDA for patients suffering from Amyotrophic Lateral
Sclerosis (ALS) and for future launch brands and product acquisitions.
This position will have significant involvement with senior leadership, given the prominence and importance of this launch for MT Pharma America.

Job Description

  • Develop the payer access launch plan and strategies for the launch of edaravone MCI-186 in the US and establish necessary contracts to ensure brand access/reimbursement and overall successful commercialization effort. Execute plan seamlessly to meet or exceed launch plan objectives.

  • Apply in-depth understanding of reimbursement issues, payer segments, use of Specialty Pharmacies, Home Infusion, buy-and-bill process and the J-Code application process to plan and drive account support for necessary Managed Markets customers including: private and public payers, national and regional health plans, state Medicaid, Medicare Part D, VA/DOD, PBM’s, Employers, IDNs, Medical Groups and ACOs.

  • Hire/develop a world-class team to ensure MT Pharma America is recognized as among the industry’s best.

  • Set access strategic objectives, develop contracting strategies for MT Pharma America portfolio products, and deliver results which positively affect the organization’s top and bottom line.

  • Work with cross functional teams to create effective, positive partnerships with peers and key internal/external stakeholders and ensure alignment of Managed Markets business needs and objectives.

  • Leverage existing industry contacts which advance the company’s position in the marketplace and
    establish the framework for market access initiatives.

  • Ensure that all contracts and alliances are negotiated and executed according to the plan and in compliance with all applicable policies and regulations.

  • Analyze individual companies and market trends. Proactively seek out and evaluate new data
    sources, tools, and analytics to help improve brand performance, and identify/incorporate industry best practices..

  • Perform company-specific and product-specific desktop research to further inform commercial assessments; support the development/analysis of tailored external market research through third parties.

  • Develop key analyses and presentations for senior leadership and other stakeholders in support of    business development/commercialization planning investment decisions.

Qualifications

Education:
Bachelor's degree in Business (Marketing or Finance) or science required.

MBA or MS preferred.

Professional Experience:
Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in the Pharmaceutical/Biotech industry within Sales, Marketing or Business Development, preferably gained in both small and large companies, and which
included supervisory experience. 

Minimum of 8 years Managed Markets experience with a track record of successfully negotiating profitable contracts with payers and building productive new customer relationships.

Recent in-depth experience with: Orphan Drug launches; Specialty Pharmacies and Home Infusion in the
Neurology/CNS market, preferably with movement disorders specifically; and successful management of access and reimbursement processes.

Knowledge and Skills:
In-depth understanding, experience and existing customer relationships in Managed Markets. 

Managed Markets knowledge must include: key Market Access issues and strategies, use of Specialty Pharmacies, Home Infusion, buy-and-bill process including submission process for filing for J-Codes, and the Organized Customer including IDNs, Medical Groups and ACOs.

General knowledge of commercial agreements and intellectual property issues.

Leads by example, displaying integrity, collaboration, accessibility, adaptability, sound judgment/decision making, and an entrepreneurial, solutions-oriented attitude.

Demonstrates responsiveness, attention to detail, and follow-through coupled with ability to prioritize/multi-task effectively.

Use analytical/strategic skills to synthesize complex information, distill critical insights to inform commercial assessments, and translate to tactical level.

Outstanding business case development skills, financial acumen and budget management skills.

Excellent written/verbal communication and presentation skills.

Highly proficient in MS Office; skilled at using Excel to develop pharmaceutical product forecast models and quantitative analyses.

Working knowledge and understanding of the Pharma industry, broad therapeutic areas/disease states, drugs/treatments, and related regulatory, commercialization and compliance requirements.

Willingness to travel 25% domestically and internationally for business and project meetings as required.
