POSITION PURPOSE

The driver/packer will be driving a light (3 ton – 7 ton) or heavy manual truck. Pack and unpack shipments on local, export and import jobs.  Load and unload the shipments to/from Move One trucks or containers to company policy.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES/FUNCTIONS TASKS

Driving duties

Drive vehicles with capacities under seven (7)  tons in order to transport materials to and from specified destinations such as railroad stations, plants, residences and offices, or within industrial yards.

Inspect and maintain vehicle supplies and equipment, such as gas, oil, water, tires, lights, and brakes in order to ensure that vehicles are in proper working condition.

Obey traffic laws, and follow established traffic and transportation procedures.

Read maps, and follow written and verbal geographic directions,

Navigation skills Verify the contents of inventory loads against shipping papers.

Perform emergency repairs such as changing tires or installing light bulbs, fuses, tire chains, and spark plugs.

Report any mechanical problems encountered with vehicles.

Report delays, accidents, or other traffic and transportation situations to bases or other vehicles, using telephones or mobile two-way radios.

Use and maintain the tools and equipment found on commercial vehicles, such as weighing and measuring devices.

Packing duties

Pack shipments in appropriate and professional way Unpack and place shipments in residence.

Assist with dismantling and re-assembly of items when required Load and unload shipments to/from Move One trucks or containers.

Load materials and products into package processing equipment.

Assemble, line, and pad cartons, crates, and containers, using hand tools.

Carry heavy items long distances and up/down stairways.

Manually hoisting heavy items.

Work with moving equipment and tools.

Provide quality, customer service at all times.

Remove debris from residences

Wear Move One uniforms and be clean and tidy

Other duties as assigned.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Valid, Clean driving license is essential and at least 1 year driving experience.

Minimum 1 year Moving experience is preferred.

Strong English skills (written and verbal).

Demonstrated ability to work in a pro actively diverse and inclusive organization.
