Muscle & Strength is currently seeking a dedicated and ambitious Junior Full Stack Engineer to join the expanding Development team at our head office in Columbia, SC. Your responsibilities will include the following:

• Build backend and frontend features for Muscle & Strength’s ecommerce, content and operations platforms
• Support and extend Muscle & Strength’s web infrastructure (LEMP/Ruby/Redis)
• Support and collaborate with frontend web developers to enhance user experience
• Participate in design and code reviews
• Identify and communicate engineering best practices across the full web technology stack

Required

• A hacker attitude with outstanding general programming and problem solving skills
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent tertiary qualification in Computer Science or equivalent professional / open source experience
• Strong understanding of object oriented programming and design patterns
• Strong understanding of SQL (MySQL dialect particularly)
• Familiarity with web technologies Javascript, HTML5, CSS3 and XML
• Understanding of version control systems (Git particularly)
• Ability to administer Linux/Unix systems (especially Ubuntu/CentOS)
• Keen interest in new technology

Advantageous

• Test Driven Development
• Familiarity with Agile Development practices (Scrum or XP particularly)
• Passion for software craftsmanship
• Experience with e-commerce platforms (especially Magento)
• Participate in local developer community events and/or contribute to opensource projects
• Familiarity with Puppet or Chef infrastructure and configuration management systems
