Job Description

The Senior Manager plays a vital role in expanding the organization’s capacity and priority of addressing the impact of health department HIV/AIDS and viral hepatitis programs, and advancing health and social justice.  The Senior Manager’s activities support the advancement of NASTAD’s Domestic Programs effort to support health departments to advance the goals of the National HIV/AIDS Strategy (NHAS), the Prevention-Care Continuum and implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). The Senior Manager, Health Equity will be responsible for leading NASTAD’s Minority Leadership Program (MLP).  Additionally, the Senior Manager will lead NASTAD’s activities to support health departments with comprehensive “ending the epidemics” (ETE) and other initiatives in conjunction with NASTAD’s Chair’s Challenge.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, able to develop and execute new projects, work with minimal direction and superb communication. Demonstrated ability to execute projects in a timely manner is also required. 

Essential Duties:

  • Relaunch, coordinate and lead NASTAD’s Minority Leadership Program, a leadership development initiative for health department staff with an annual cohort of participants
  • Provide leadership on NASTAD’s technical assistance activities focused on supporting jurisdictions’ ending the epidemics (e.g. no new HIV infections, hepatitis elimination, etc.) including strategic national and local partnerships
  • Coordinate across NASTAD programmatic teams to advance health equity and social justice initiatives
  • Assess health department technical assistance and program development needs, leading technical assistance on health department HIV program issues
  • Represent NASTAD and its positions at meetings, briefings, and consultations related to department HIV health prevention and care programs
  • Provide timely support to and interaction with NASTAD’s members through responsive and innovative messaging, mentoring, networking and technical assistance activities

  • Supervise program staff and coordinate/liaison with program consultants
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned

Qualifications

Experience/ Education

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent and five to seven years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams.
  • Prior experience working in HIV and/or hepatitis and/or training and/or leadership development is preferred.
