Each of NASTAD’s seven programmatic teams—Health Care AccessHealth Systems IntegrationPolicy & Legislative AffairsHepatitisHealth Equity, Prevention, and Global—interpret and influence policies, conduct trainings, offer technical assistance, and provide advocacy mobilization for U.S. health departments and ministries of health around the world to improve health outcomes for people living with HIV and hepatitis.

 

Job Description

The Fellow, Health Equity plays an essential role in supporting the implementation and dissemination of evidence-based interventions identified by NASTAD’s Center for Innovation and Engagement (CIE). The CIE is leading a collaborative partnership with Northwestern University’s Center for Prevention Implementation Methodology and Howard Brown Health Center to identify, catalog, disseminate, and support the replication of evidence-informed approaches and interventions to engage people living with HIV (PLWH) who are not receiving HIV care or who are at risk of not continuing to receive HIV care. The end goal of the project is to support the replication of identified interventions into real-world implementation by Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program (RWHAP) and HIV care providers.

Essential Duties:

  •  Transcribe site visit interviews, assist with data collection activities and thematic coding of qualitative and quantitative data  
  • Assist with data consolidation from intervention pilots
  • Establish and maintain a data management and tracking system
  • Support Evidence and Dissemination Expert Panel (EDEP) convenings, conference calls, and other subcommittee activities
  • Participate in cross-agency meetings to discuss activities and deliverables
  • Attend monthly staff and Health Equity team meetings 
  • Participate in teambuilding and leadership development opportunities
  • Contribute to health equity initiatives as opportunities arise
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned

Additionally, the fellowship will also serve as an opportunity for growth, especially for individuals interested in developing their skillsets in public health.

Qualifications

Experience/Education

  • Bachelor degree or higher in public health, sociology, social work, psychology, or related fields; or any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position
  • Experience with data management tools (e.g., Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Excel)
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of progressively responsible work experience related to public health, research and/or health equity programs preferred
  • Experience working in HIV service delivery, community-based organizations, or other grassroots initiatives preferred
  • Experience working with diverse groups that have been historically underserved and underrepresented preferred

  • Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time

 

Additional Information

This position is full-time for a period of up to two years, based on available funding, with start and end dates to be determined at hire. During or following the fellowship period, the incumbent may be considered for other open positions, based on demonstrated competency in achieving results within the fellow position. Maximum salary for this position is $50,000.
