Job Description

The Senior Associate, Prevention, as part of NASTAD’s prevention team, supports the organization’s capacity to support health departments (HDs) and community-based organizations (CBOs) implementation of high-impact HIV prevention programs. The position works primarily on NASTAD’s CDC-funded Capacity Building Assistance (CBA) project to provide technical assistance to HDs implementing PS18-1802, and to CBOs implementing PS15-1502 and PS17-1704. The position is responsible for providing technical assistance and training related to social determinants of health, HIV stigma and cultural humility/responsiveness. The Senior Associate, Prevention will also develop content and provide facilitation for NASTAD’s e-learning platform known as Online Technical Assistance Platform (OnTAP).  

Essential Functions

  • Develop and facilitate technical assistance and training relative to social determinants of health, HIV stigma and cultural humility;
  • Develop content and provide facilitation assistance for e-learning platform, including managing communities of practice, developing resources and collaborating with subject matter experts (SMEs);    
  • Contribute to reporting and monitoring activities to support CBA program;
  • Contribute to team-based discussions and activities related to overall technical assistance specifically crafted for HDs and CBOs in the southern United States;
  • Work across NASTAD teams to identify meaningful ways to ensure CBA programmatic priorities are fully integrated;
  • Represent NASTAD in various meetings with federal and national partners, and with strategic stakeholders;
  • Attend and represent NASTAD at national and regional conferences;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Experience/Education

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent (4 years of work experience is equivalent to a Bachelor degree) and 2-3 years of relevant work experience
  • Prior experience working in the area of HIV and/or hepatitis

  • Demonstrated technical expertise related to social determinants of health, HIV stigma and cultural humility/responsiveness.
  • Demonstrated experience with distance learning and e-learning strategies. 
  • Fostering Teamwork: As a team member, the ability and desire to work cooperatively with others on a team.
  • Oral Communication: The ability to express oneself clearly in conversations and interactions with others.
  • Written Communication: The ability to express oneself clearly in business writing.
