About you 

You are unashamedly the rare hybrid Geek who loves all things IT, especially Data Centres and can’t understand why your friends don’t get as excited as you by these huge buildings where the Cloud lives. You love talking to customers about their challenges and the growth opportunities in colocation, connectivity and the new hybrid cloud world. 

Solving these challenges with your teammates is something you enjoy and presenting possible solutions to the customer gives you a strange sense of satisfaction. Helping the Sales team close opportunities and the delivery team deliver the ultimate outcome for the customer makes you high 5 yourself each time. You are confident and eager to learn and take initiative to solve problems. You have excellent written and verbal communication skills and love to win. 

The Role

You will be responsible for collaboratively building solutions to customer challenges and working with our customers and internal teams to ensure NEXTDC proposals are both technically and cost achievable to solve the customer’s challenge. 

This includes demonstrating the value proposition of the data centre solution through highly customised proposals including giving data centre tours and formal presentations to customers on data centre solutions. You will act as a technical subject matter expert on Colocation, Value Add and Connectivity Services and part of a national pre-sales team.  

In addition to attending customer site visits with the Sales team you’ll provide ongoing technical education to the Sales team, while exceeding your sales targets. In this role, you’ll interact closely with other NEXTDC teams regularly including Engineering, Facilities, Finance and Service Delivery.

  • Experience as Pre-Sales Engineer/Consultant or similar role in the Data Centre or ICT industry 

  • Strong knowledge of Sales and Data Centre solutions and operations in a large scale environment 

  • Knowledge of design principles for colocation, cloud computing and connectivity solutions 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

  • Ability to write well-structured reports with clear, logical and succinct language 

  • Ability to develop and present well-structured presentations with informative and well-presented information appropriate for the desired audience 

  • A proven history of target over-achievement
