Valentine, the Nashville Symphony has established an international profile with its innovative programming and steadily expanding discography. Founded in 1946, the 84-member orchestra is today the largest performing arts nonprofit in the state of Tennessee. With 140 performances annually, the Symphony’s concert schedule encompasses a diverse mix of classical, pops, jazz and family programs, along with extensive community outreach efforts.

Job Description

• Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for incorporating Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and other platforms into all Marketing and Communications efforts, with the goal of increasing the organization’s visibility, website traffic, ticket sales and fundraising. 

• Spearhead posting on social media sites. Monitor and manage social media conversations during daytime and evening hours. 

• Supervise website maintenance, perform daily updates and oversee the implementation of new website features. 

• Manage all website project timelines and collaborate with VP of Communications on developing a long-range strategy to expand and enhance website’s content and functionality.

• Immediately respond to any urgent needs related to website and social media, including customer-service issues.

• Collaborate with all departments to integrate every aspect of the organization into the Nashville Symphony’s website and social media content strategy. Maintain authoritative knowledge of all aspects of the institution to ensure that website and social media content remain current and reflect the Nashville Symphony’s dynamic mission.

• Develop dynamic, interactive content and graphics — including photos and video — for the Nashville Symphony’s website and social media platforms. 

• Keep pace with emerging trends to ensure that the Nashville Symphony website and social media are utilizing the most up-to-date technologies and methodologies. 

• Utilize measurement, analytic and reporting tools to assess effectiveness of campaigns.

• Assist in managing budgets for digital initiatives and activities, providing regular analysis and reports on effectiveness of online media strategy.

Qualifications

• At least two years of experience in social media and online content management, preferably working for a nonprofit or performing arts organization.

• Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, public relations, website development or a related field. 

• Experience using social media technologies is essential. These include Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Foursquare, Google+, blogs, RSS and community software, along with online monitoring and measurement platforms including Facebook Insights, Google Analytics and HootSuite. A solid understanding of search engine optimization techniques is preferred.

• An understanding of online and e-marketing principles, as well as fine-tuned computer skills are essential; understanding of graphic design practices and principles is strongly preferred.

• A working knowledge of online content management systems (CMS) is essential. 

• Must have work experience proving attention to detail, efficiency, confidentiality, ability and willingness to assume responsibility and work independently

• Must exhibit strong communication and presentation skills.

• Must be able to perform as part of a team and work effectively under deadlines. 

• Must be able to monitor social media platforms during peak hours, including nights and weekends. Schedule allows for flexibility during office hours. 

• Ability to work on a mobile device from remote locations and to be present at the Nashville Symphony concerts and events.

• Familiarity with music, arts, entertainment or non-profit industry strongly preferred.
