Job Description

To administer and oversee network design, implementation, organization, and troubleshooting. To oversee work of technical support staff in managing network hubs, routers, and servers; to monitor underlying communications protocols and supporting network hardware.


Working Relationships with:

  • Store and Head Office staff from Corporate and Franchise organizations, DFG Technical support teams, as well as technical staff from acquisitions.
  • Technical Service Contractors and key venders.

Qualifications

RESPONSIBILITIES AND POSITIVE PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

  • Interfaces with users, consultants, technical teams, and vendors for maximum guidance in determining the most appropriate type of hardware installation.
  • Designs, specifies, and documents LAN/WAN configurations according to user needs, utilizing outside support resources as appropriate.
  • Prepares documentation and instruction to train managers and others in proper network usage.
  • Prepares checklists and processes to assist the help desk in first level troubleshooting.
  • Analyzes network load, including traffic and utilization trends.
  • Supervises network technical support team and organizes software training programs.
  • Develops and monitors appropriate security procedures to safeguard system from physical harm and viruses, unauthorized users, and damage to data.
  • Surveys performance needs and goals of LAN/WAN users.


EDUCATION AND REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Two-year technical certificate or associates degree in computer studies. CCNP, CCVP, CCSP would be an asset. Preferably CCIE.
  • Minimum Five years of related work experience.
  • In depth knowledge in Cisco ASA/PIX/IOS/Catalyst, Syslog, SEIM, Ironport, Riverbed WAN accelerators, and various enterprise monitoring tools. Extensive knowledge in various forms of VPN, BGP, OSPF, etc. Working knowledge of Windows7, 2003, 2008, & Active directory an asset. Demonstrated analytic, written, and oral communications skills. Multi-lingual would be a valuable asset.
