Job Description

Underwriting Audit Coordinators at Nautilus review samples of submission and/or policy files and provide feedback to the Audit Manager on identified trends.  Audit types include agency and underwriting audits. Our Underwriting Audit team is of particular value to the organization as they collaborate with Underwriting to enhance profitability and productivity.


-Complete audits on new business, renewals and quotes to assess quality of risk and file handling from an underwriting, pricing and policy construction standpoint and adherence to established underwriting procedures.

-Complete “special request” audits such as those on specific classes of business or programs.

-Develop and update requirements for automated tools used to collect and track audit results.

-Identify learning opportunities for the underwriting team and work with training staff to develop the appropriate training vehicle and objectives.

-Initiate requests to create or update underwriting philosophies, guidelines or procedures based on audit results.

-Represent the department in inter-departmental meetings and maintain positive relationships with internal departments, external vendors and customers.


- A Bachelor's degree

- A minimum of 5 years commercial insurance underwriting experience

- An understanding of the rating process for all lines of business written by Nautilus and an advanced understanding of P&C coverages. 

- Background in Excess and Surplus lines is beneficial.

- CPCU and/or AIC certification(s) or completion of insurance related classes is a plus
