Job Description

The Brand Journalist is primarily responsible for assisting the Managing Editor in curating and creating content for the NewsCred blog and academy. In addition, the Brand Journalist collects content performance data that ultimately informs our content strategy. This person should be a strong, experienced writer and researcher who is familiar with social media and SEO tactics, content marketing best practices, video production, and visual storytelling. A background in publishing, journalism, or editorial work is preferred. 

Create Content

  • Assist the Managing Editor in building Content Marketing Strategy.
  • Pitch ideas for blog, video, visual, and long-form content (ebooks, white papers, etc.).
  • Write approximately 3-5 blog posts per week, one long-form research-based piece of content per month that adhere to client restrictions, SEO and style guidelines, and brand voice.

Curate Content

  • Use software recommendations to find brand relevant licensed content on regular basis 
  • Be up to date on current marketing, advertising, and tech news to make informed curation decisions.

Data Collection and Analysis

  • Monitor performance metrics for content through a combination of the CMC and Google Analytics
  • Utilize Excel to show a correlation between content performance and variables such as source, topic and format.
  • Provide initial conclusions to Marketing Team on what is driving changes in performance. 

Qualifications

  • 2- 5 years experience as a writer 
  • Degree in marketing, communications, or journalism 
  • Background in branded content/editorial
