Summary:

Seeking a passionate, results-oriented, hands-on, creative QA Director to lead automation strategy, migrating predominantly manual testing approach to a repeatable automation-based implementation that aligns with agile process and improves on the quality of the deliverables.  Though industry experience is preferred, we place a much higher premium upon a proven track record of delivering high quality results with an automation focused QA team.

As the QA Director, you will manage a team of QA Engineers, propose and implement QA strategy, allocate team members to projects, mentor the team, provide career development and build capacity to meet project needs.  Company business requires creative engineering balanced with high quality and customer focus.  The ideal candidate will be a passionate and strong leader who can prioritize well, collaborate with others towards a common goal, communicate clearly, and have a consistent track record of delivery and building productive teams.

Key Skills and Responsibilities:

-Develop and implement programs to improve quality.
-Work closely with product and project managers on the implementation of new projects and infrastructures.
-Introduce, develop, maintain, and periodically update the QA Procedures Manual that defines structure, procedures and tools to deliver quality products.
-Implement a data driven approach that enables monitoring, maintenance and continuous improvement on product quality.
-Quality and technical guidance.
-Be responsible for setting, reviewing, and executing an operational plan that compares well with industry best practices for comparable environments.
-Provide necessary definition, development and deployment of product quality assurance strategy, addressing all phases of product development.

Team Management
-Responsible for estimating and building capacity of QA team to meet project requirements.  This includes screening candidates, interviewing and participating in making hiring decisions into the team.
-Directly supervise QA team including the preparation and delivery of staff performance evaluations and career development activities.

Reporting and documentation management
-Establish framework for benchmarking and improving key QA metrics.
-Implement ongoing quality improvement processes working with interdepartmental teams.
-Maintain product consistency throughout product cycle, to include the design, define and build phases through quality checkpoints and testing.

Quality Management
-Establish quality and reliability standards by studying product and consumer requirements with other members of management and with production operators, technicians, and engineers.
-Anticipate program release problems and takes corrective action, escalating as needed, to resolve and achieve commitments.
-Assure the viability, functionality and effectiveness of essential tools.

Project and Agile Management
-Participate in product inceptions and sizing of deliverables.
-Ensure team is organized and delivering bi-weekly sprint deliverables.
-Provide effective communication regarding issues, objectives, initiatives and performance to plan.
-Produce and manage the planning and execution of product testing efforts, including all associated resources to meet committed delivery dates.
-Responsible and accountable for flagging the timing of interdepartmental deliverables and the quality of their output.
-Work with project managers to develop project schedules and resource allocation models for QA related projects and other activities such customer integration, and professional services validation.

Qualifications:

-Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
-10+ years of Quality Assurance experience.
-Experience in building test automation teams and application of open source frameworks and custom tools.
-Strong technical acumen; development experience is preferred
-Strong overall understanding of how databases work with applications (Postgres a plus).
-Experience working in a distributed SAAS-based software deployment.
-4+ years supervisory/management experience.
-Demonstrated knowledge of Quality Systems and experience with new product introduction process.
-Experienced at working in agile-based SDLC.
-Strong experience developing automation teams.
-Working knowledge of major distributed operating systems and development and management of global infrastructures.
-Working knowledge of UNIX, Java, scripting-based languages a major plus.
-Excellent oral and written communication skills.
