Your new Opportunity at Nine.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Reporter to Anchor Brisbane reportage for the Today Show across South/East Queensland.

Reporting into the Director of Morning Television at Nine, you will work closely with the Today Show Editorial team/ QTQ Newsroom teams.

The successful applicant for this position will be a team player who's able to work within a reasonably small unit of the Today Show. Their key role will be anchoring Today's news coverage from Brisbane, and on occasion from other locations within QLD, depending on where the news takes them.

Day to day, Today's Brisbane reporter will be broadcasting from 5.00am till 9.30am, and if there's breaking news events they could be on air for a significantly longer period. 

The Today Show's daily news content in QLD could relate to State political issues/ Crime/ Consumer/ social and environmental stories / weather/ sport and quirky colour stories. An ability to discuss with confidence any of these issues (and more) is essential.

In addition to live reporting on the Today show the applicant will also be required to film tape stories on any manner of issues including those (but not limited to) those topics listed above. 

Qualifications

In order to succeed, you will ideally have:

Essential 

  • Relevant experience as a television reporter
  • Proven track record of anchoring live broadcasts from location 
  • Ability to pivot from heavier topics to lighter content
  • A sound news judgement 
  • Understanding of Television production fundamentals, from news gathering to broadcast

Desirable

  • Ability to use ENPS/ AVID/ Google (Mail, Docs, meet etc)
  • Understanding of the issues facing residents of Brisbane/ South East QLD/ QLD
