Municipal Bond Assistant Portfolio Manager/Analyst Position

 

BASIC FUNCTION: This position will assist with management and coverage of the taxable and tax-exempt municipal bond assets.  Primary duties include:

 

• Conduct fundamental credit analysis of municipal bond issuers across various sectors, including evaluation of new issue and secondary market offerings, monitoring of existing holdings and generation of buy/sell recommendations.
• Assist the senior portfolio manager in the management of municipal bond portfolios, including portfolio construction, portfolio monitoring, risk management and performance attribution analysis.

• Participate in presentations to senior management on key issues, composition and performance of municipal bond portfolios.
• Attend appropriate industry functions and conferences to stay abreast of industry trends and developments.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: This position is subject to the Personal Trading Policy and the employee will be required to maintain any brokerage accounts with one of NMIMC’s approved brokers.

 

• Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in finance, economics or accounting.  Master’s degree or CPA is a plus.
• CFA designation or progress towards attaining the CFA designation.
• At least 7 years of relevant municipal bond work experience, which may include portfolio management, credit research and/or trading.
• Strong analytical skills, quantitative and critical reasoning skills.
• Superior verbal and written communication skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks, respond to changing priorities and meet deadlines.
• Works well independently, while promoting and contributing to a strong team dynamic.
• High ethical and professional standards.

 

OTHER CONSIDERATIONS:

• Proficiency with Bloomberg and Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and Power Point required
