What's the role?

Internship Program Overview:  Students participate in summer intern program within the firm’s Investment Products and Services program objectives provide the student with hands-on experience through teamwork and collaboration, as well as individual work assignments. Interns participate in a wide range of learning and development activities including job shadows, attending various speaking engagements and events designed to expose interns to multiple areas of the firm. Interns also have an opportunity to network with senior leaders across the firm, attend various social and work-sponsored events and are also encouraged to engage in team volunteer opportunities within the community.   

 

Role and Responsibilities

The Northwestern Mutual Investment Services Investment Products summer intern will assist in performing research and data analysis for the Company’s products.  This includes analyzing accounts in Company’s advisory programs and recommending process and procedural improvements for ongoing data analysis and management.   They will also participate in team meetings and assist, as needed, in gathering and compiling data for ad hoc research projects and presentations.

Role and Responsibilities

Qualifications

  • Student pursuing a Bachelor or Post-Graduate Degree majoring in Finance,  Investments or similar concentration such as Economics, Statistics or Math
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, including the ability to multitask, prioritize work, take initiative with responsibilities
  • Extremely proficient in Excel

 

Desirable Qualifications: 

  • Demonstrate proficiency and interest in investments and investment analysis
  • Strong Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills
  • Experience with Morningstar and data analysis
