What's the role?

NM's Network Infrastructure Engineering team operates in a highly dynamic environment, designing and deploying network systems that are foundational to the accelerating growth needs of the business.  This position will have a critical role in translating architectural directions into detailed designs that are transformational, utilizing innovative technologies. Creative thinking that maximizes software and hardware capabilities, while also providing high levels of performance and availability, is essential to this role.

 

As Network Engineer, you support systems infrastructure, hardware, and software, including: analysis, planning, design, development, implementation, provisioning, upgrade and day-to-day operations. Applying established best practices, you will take charge of build decisions, infrastructure and systems software design on larger, more complex systems to achieve strategic objectives in the areas of service management, risk management and project delivery. You will: execute Detail Design tasks and create associated deliverables; consult on right-sizing decisions for infrastructure, software solutions, and services; provide functional analysis and oversight for incident management; establish monitoring and automation processes to increase efficiencies; develop scope, scale and budgets for support projects. A strategic thinker, you move between diverse tasks with cooperation and persistence, helping to bring out the best in those around you.

 

 

Bring Your Best! What this role needs:
  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

  • Minimum 6 years experience as a Network Engineer, designing and managing highly available network infrastructure. Expertise in Layer Two and Layer Three routing and switching.

  • Experience configuring and deploying network switches and routers including adding VLANs and routing protocols (including OSPF, BGP, and Multicast). Juniper experience preferred, but equivalent experience with Cisco is acceptable.

  • Experience with the design, provisioning and troubleshooting of WAN and LAN connectivity technologies (i.e. MPLS, LACP).

  • Proficient in creating ACLs, TCP/IP sub-netting, and VLAN trunking.

  • Knowledge of Priority Queuing, Class of Service (CoS), and Quality of Service (QoS) a plus.

  • Experience with wireless technologies (Aruba preferred).

  • Experienced with WAN optimization technologies (Riverbed preferred).

  • Experience with configuring and implementing load balancing technologies (F5 preferred).

  • Experience with capacity planning aspects of network provisioning.

  • Experience with SDN/Network Automation preferred.

  • Ability to set priorities for scope, risk and quality of technology solutions to meet business needs. 

  • Experience with Agile and Lean methodologies prefered.

  • Experience working with change management systems and coordinating deployments involving cross-project interdependencies.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with team members, other IS areas, and external clients. Ability to effectively communicate issues and solutions across all levels of the organization.
