The Scrum Master facilitates the success of the team  through coaching the team to solve problems, illuminating insights, removing impediments both within and outside of the team to enable the team to achieve their objectives.  A Scrum Master derives their success through the team’s accomplishments and motivates the team to continually improve, bringing out the best in those around them. 

 

Some of the daily activities include using developed scum methodologies to :

 

• Coach the team in self-organization and cross-functionality

• Remove impediments to the team's progress to its sprint commitments

• Facilitate scrum events including sprint planning, retrospectives, and daily stand-ups

• Enact change & continuous improvement to increase the productivity of the team and quality of deliverables

• Coach the team in organizational environments in which scrum is not yet fully adopted and understood

• Ensure team execution and delivery to committed sprint work

• Understand and help the team manage capacity

• Follow established techniques for effective Product Backlog management

• Create a forum for communicating vision, goals, and Product Backlog items to the team

• Ensure Backlog items are clear and concise

• Understand long-term product planning

 

A successful Scrum Master will:

 

• Collaborate and partner within and beyond their team; build productive relationships with others

• Influence continuous improvement among peer Scrum Masters

• Communicate effectively across diverse audiences within and outside of the Sprint Team (Stakeholders, Executives). Motivate and model open communication to help surface issues for faster resolution.

• Recognize and remove impediments to team efficiency and effectively enable their resolution

• Provide perspective to the team and keeps team focused on critical deliverables and tasks

• Understand and utilize agile concepts and vernacular.

 

 

Bring Your Best! What this role needs:

 

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Systems or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience

Experience with multiple technologies and/or business partners in varied functions

At least 2 years of Scrum Master experience

Proven ability developing and influencing relationships with project team members and stakeholders
