What's the role?

Hours and Program:  Internship begins August 1st, 2016. Up to 20 hours available during the academic year. Up to 40 hours available during the summer months, between the hours of 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM. This internship may be extended up to 2 years. 

Basic Function: The Budget & Expense Management Intern will prepare monthly, quarterly and annual expense reports for Company actual, budgeted and projected expenditures. Participate in various aspects of the monthly expense close process:  process monthly journal entries, prepare department-specific reports, prepare Excel reporting & analysis, and review of expenses in the accounting system structure (accounts, cost centers, etc.) to ensure all accounting information is processed correctly. Evaluate and process expense corrections. Compile relevant budget information. Perform ad hoc budget analysis as needed. Develop and maintain divisional site. Research special items and complete special projects as needed.

Internship Program Overview: Program objectives provide the student with hands-on experience through teamwork and collaboration, as well as individual work assignments. Interns participate in a wide range of learning and development activities including job shadows, attending various speaking engagements and events designed to expose interns to other areas of the firm. Interns also have an opportunity to network with senior leaders across the firm, attend various social and work-sponsored events and are also encouraged to engage in team volunteer opportunities within the community.

Qualifications: Enrolled in a Bachelor’s program in Accounting. Sophomore or Junior status preferred. At least a 3.0/4.0 GPA required. Completion of at least two accounting courses. Effective written and verbal communication skills. High degree of self-motivation and proven ability to meet deadlines. Proven ability to work with a high degree of accuracy. Ability to demonstrate professionalism. Ability to work independently. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word. Previous office experience or demonstrated leadership experience preferred. Ability to work approximately 20 hours a week during the school year with the possibility of extra hours during breaks.
