What's the role?

The Sr. Investment Research Consultant will be part of the team responsible for due diligence and research for mutual funds, ETFs, and separately managed accounts within Northwestern Mutual Wealth Management Company’s investment advisory programs.  The Sr. Investment Research Consultant will provide guidance and recommendations for implementation within model portfolios, as well as on the firm’s select list of investment managers and products.  Recommendations are to be based on thorough quantitative and qualitative analysis and a solid understanding of the portfolio construction process.  In addition, this role is expected to communicate investment decisions to advisors and across all levels of the organization.

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • CFA or progress towards designation
  • Minimum of 10 years relevant work experience in the financial services industry, including a broad knowledge of markets, investments, economics and accounting.
  • Experience performing investment research on mutual funds, ETFS, or SMAs, and understanding how these investments fit within a client’s portfolio.
  • Familiarity with performance attribution on fund managers, as well as total portfolio attribution.
  • Demonstrated ability to consistently make sound investment strategy recommendations.
  • Experience with investment analytic tools, such as Bloomberg, Morningstar Direct, or Zephyr StyleAdvisor. 
  • The ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization, as well as with financial advisors.
