What's the role?

IT Talent Acquisition, Assistant Director ensures the delivery of Talent Acquisition strategies for internal and external hiring needs to meet current and future workforce requirements for Northwestern Mutual’s technology and operations functions. This role reports to the Director, Talent Acquisition, has three direct reports and is considered a player/coach.

Principal Accountabilities

 

  • Through deep subject matter expertise, via in-house Talent Acquisition Consultants, in partnership with Workforce Planning and Executive Recruitment leads, and through outsourced support providers, TA lead ensures the delivery of TA strategies for internal and external hiring needs to meet current and future workforce requirements for NM’s technology and operations functions:
    • Strategic Advisor:  Displays business acumen by consulting with and advising hiring leaders in alignment with broader talent, digital, and technical priorities.
    • Pipeline Management:  Able to effectively assess, select, and hire candidates.  Displays strong knowledge of labor market with ability to identify a steady stream of prospective talent in anticipation of future talent needs.  Uses the right channels and messages to find targeted sources of high quality candidates.  Leverages digital technologies to locate, engage, and attract prospective candidates.
    • Process Expertise:  Through deep subject matter expertise and experience in TA strategies and solutions, able to deliver quality hires in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Manages TA Consultants/Specialists through selection, motivation, coaching, and development; oversees workflow.
  • In addition to assigned departments/work teams, takes lead on high-level, senior, or complex job requisitions.  May partner with executive search firms or in-house executive search function.
  • Lead and participate on inter and intra departmental teams/projects to support TA, Talent, HR, or business area priorities.

 

 

Bring Your Best! What this role needs:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, HR, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of 7 years of professional work experience which includes at least some combination of experience in the following:  staffing/recruiting/sourcing, human resources generalist, people leadership, and/or project management. 
  • Minimum of 5 years of proven experience and demonstrated success in recruiting for executive and senior leader roles.
  • Excellent oral and written communication/interpersonal skills.  Excellent and proven presentation and delivery skills.
  • Proven consultation/client management skills.
  • Proven people development and assessment skills with the ability to drive results through others.
  • Ability to establish relationships at all levels within an organization.
