Summary Provides leadership, strategic operational plans, direction for Plant, and shipping departments. Performs administrative duties in preparing and maintaining records, reviews production reports, and follows through on deviations from expected results and sets goals for the future.                 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Directs supervision in carrying out the approved programs.
  • Performs administrative duties in preparing and analyzing reports and records.
  • Manages the training and learning experiences of subordinates to continually improve their skills and knowledge.
  • Selects and holds accountable all managers and subordinates in Plant facilities.
  • Actively pursues acquisition and/or skills related to management of Plant facilities.
  • Maintains close and effective working relationships with slaughter plant, labs, quality control, vendors, government agencies and sales department.
  • Keeps upper management informed with timely and sufficient information.
  • Must be knowledgeable in HACCP.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Supervisory Responsibilities                      

Manages 15 subordinate supervisors who supervise a total of 600 employees in the Plant. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience                      

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in agriculture, science, engineering, business or related area; and five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills                      

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

Mathematical Skills                      

Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

Certificates, Licenses, Registration: 

Must have a valid driver's license and must qualify for the company driving program.

Reasoning Ability                      

Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills                      

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software; Manufacturing software; Payroll systems and Spreadsheet software.
