Job Description

Reporting to the Director, Marketing & Communications, we are currently seeking a Manager, Public Relations as a full-time addition to our marketing team. The primary role of the  Manager, Public Relations is to ensure a strong public image for Oliver & Bonacini and to drive positive publicity for the company, its restaurants and event spaces and services. The role will spend 50% of time at our downtown office location and 50% of time at our head office location.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Planning, developing and implementing PR strategies to achieve maximum media editorial coverage and content
  • Handling every aspect of a PR related project from high-level planning to detailed information fulfillment
  • Liaising with the President, executive and senior management of restaurant and event venue teams to Identify promotable opportunities
  • Managing all outsourced Public Relations activities to ensure maximum effectiveness
  • Liaising with and answering enquiries from media, business and sponsorship partners
  • Researching, writing and distributing press related materials to targeted media
  • Analyzing media coverage
  • Coordinating all media requests and inquiries including photography, interviews and prepared content
  • Writing and editing newsletters, speeches, blogs and reports
  • Preparing and supervising the production of publicity-related materials including promotional videos, photographs, films and multimedia programmes
  • Devising and coordinating photo opportunities
  • Organizing events including press conferences, exhibitions, open days and press tours
  • Maintaining and updating corporate information and company related profiles in all print and digital applications
  • Creating and maintaining a digital media information centre
  • Sourcing and managing speaking and sponsorship opportunities
  • Commissioning market research
  • Creating a crisis management plan
  • Implementing media training for senior executives

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education with a degree or diploma in Communications, Business (Marketing), English or any other relevant field of study - MBA an asset
  • Minimum 7 years of public relations and publicity experience
  • Exceptional communications and interpersonal skills – outgoing personality with strong presentation skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to write clear, concise and compelling copy
  • Skills to create professional and exciting media kit materials
  • Experience in marketing programming and promotions, preferably within the hospitality industry
  • Detail oriented and strong organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Works extremely well under pressure and is able to multi-task on concurrent projects
  • Enjoys working in a hands-on and collaborative team environment
