Job Functions Coordinate a cross-functional project-team to ensure production readiness of an existing furnace and ensure compliance with relevant guidelines (ISO/TS16949, CQI9, internal guidelines etc.)
Provide advanced metallurgical/ heat-treatment expertise for further process developments (new products, product changes, process improvements etc.)
Evaluate current production processes for improvement opportunities. Recommend process changes and coordinate the implementation of these changes into production.
Review the most complex of new or revised product designs and identify production requirements. Suggest product design modifications where applicable. Make recipe changes and recommendations as part of the review process.
Coordinate Development of Process Sheets for the shop.
Contract out processes in cases where it is more economic, or in-house equipment or workload limitations exist. Research vendor sources, request quotations, select vendors, set due dates, issue requisitions (coordinate with Purchasing), schedule tryouts, and approve equipment/tooling.
Keep current of technological developments in the industry.
Ensure production practices comply with government regulations and safety standards.
Create, modify spec-books and align with corresponding departments.
Acquire quotes and evaluate in view of technical feasibility, process stability, long-term cost and delivery dates.
Check and evaluate technical documentation and specifications to ensure practicability, clarify details of technology, design and delivery dates.
Monitor project progress and targets, support purchasing with questions regarding technology and cost plausibility.
Provide group leadership in international project teams.
Bachelor degree in Material Science and Engineering or a related engineering program
At least six years of specific heat-treatment experience
At least one year project management or supervisory experience
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
