An exciting opportunity awaits you as an Operations Manager - Fixed Wing for OpsMobil, an oilfield service and operations company with aviation capabilities.  The Operations Manager is responsible for safe flight operations under the Canadian Air Regulations and for the overall control of operations including operational standards of all company fixed wing aircraft operated.  In addition he/she is responsible for managing customer and internal requirements for aircrafts and pilots, balancing often competing needs and determining the best course of action to ensure client commitments are satisfactorily met in a profitable manner while government and company standards are adhered to.

Job Description

Responsibilities:


Operational Standards

  1. Ensure that all company operations are conducted in accordance with the Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARS), Canadian Air Service Standards (CASS) and with the policies and instructions contained in the company Operations Manual.

  2. Produce amendments to CARS and ensure Operations Manual is updated as amendments and regulatory changes occur.

  3. Using standards set out in the Canadian Air Regulation manual, CASS and the OpsMobil Operations Manual, ensure that operations are conducted in accordance with various procedures and programs.

Leadership

  1. Manages the complex coordination of logistics for fixed wing aviation support for company operations to meet internal and external customer requirements.  Review all requests, determine the best course of action.

  2. Engage in long range planning to forecast fleet and staff requirements for six months to one year into the future and determine requirements for significant capital expenditures to meet emerging needs.

  3. Negotiate requests for aviation support with various internal departments, managers and customers to balance competing needs and ensure customer needs are satisfied in a cost effective manner.

  4. Act as an advisor to special projects as necessary.

Development

  1. Assist in setting rates for aviation services to ensure profitability of company operations.

  2. Manage and maintain the departments budget forecasts and objectives.

  3. Approve various capital expenditures including those for accessory gear and ensure standards on accessory gear are acceptable.

  4. Assist with internal investigations and disciplinary hearings if any pilot is involved in an accident or incident.

  5. Conduct performance appraisals and agree on career development plan targets for each employee under direct supervision.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  1. Minimum of 10 years proven experience in aviation as pilot.

  2. Minimum 10 years proven operations management experience on aircraft operations that include aircraft up to 19 passenger seat capacity. CARS 604, 702, 703 and 704 operations experience is essential.

  3. North of 60 experience will be considered an asset.

  4. Corporate jet experience will be considered an asset.

  5. Minimum of 5 years supervisory or management experience.

  6. Must hold or have held a Fixed Wing Air Transport License.

  7. Class 1 Aviation Medical.

  8. Eligible to work in Canada.

  9. Fluent English communication skills.

  10. Knowledge of Canadian Air Regulations, FAA regulations, Canada Labour Code.

  11. Proficiency in the use of computer programs for word processing, databases, email, internet, etc.
