Job Description

The EMR Specialist will have responsibility for managing integrated practice management and electronic health record system implementations and ongoing support. The position’s purpose is to provide hands-on consulting, training and education to providers and clinical staff on a variety of subjects, including the practice clinical operations, and assisting providers and staff in maximizing use of the electronic medical record systems in practice locations. This includes but is not limited to performing workflow analysis, working closely with the vendors to coordinate implementation activities, assisting clinic centers with set-up decisions based on product knowledge and serving as lead or assistant trainer in all staff training sessions on all product features.

This position requires an in-depth understanding of clinical workflow, and the application of EMR technology in a medical office.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide expert subject matter knowledge on EMR software, clinical operations and work flow.

Review existing paper documentation and develop electronic templates and documents using EMR tools.

Recommend software enhancements based on evaluation and feedback from end users.

Manage communication between clinic staff, physicians, and management.

Participates in the development and maintenance of a course curriculum used in the training of the clinical staff, providers, and on-site key users of the EMR.

Organizes and provides regular Key User classes and one-on-one training.

Participates in the development and implementation of new application clinical modules and templates.

Learns and remains knowledgeable in features of the new releases and upgrades, and is responsible for disseminating information from release notes and other data to the practices.

Monitors use of the EMR for quality, efficiency, and optimal utilization of the system in the practices.

Serves as a resource for providers, management, and staff.

Participates in operational analysis of clinical workflow and make appropriate recommendations.

Assists in the design of reports for disease management and measuring clinical outcomes.

Researches application problems and workflow issues, attempts to resolve them, and/or contacts the EMR vendor.

Participates in user meetings and training sessions sponsored by the EMR vendor.

Provides remote and onsite support and assistance for new EMR releases and upgrades.

Responsible for training and follow-up with key users regarding the overall electronic medical record management.

Works with the corporate research team to identify opportunities to capture, track and report patient data, to improve patient care, and maximize the benefit of government incentive programs.

Provides consulting and collaboration on Meaningful Use, Physicians Quality Reporting System.

The practice expert on Meaningful Use(MU) for Eligible Providers (EP), Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS), and other government-initiated regulatory programs.

Responsible for attesting to government requirements of Meaningful Use (MU) and Physical Quality Reporting System (PQRS).

Maintains periodic audits of government regulatory program quality reports.

Assists with the design and implementation of a training program to meet HIPPA standards.

Coordinates training schedules with practice providers and staff, and maintains a listing of those trained.

Collaborates and identifies provider, key user, and clinical staff training needs at all practices.

Observes strict confidentiality of patient/personnel information with regards to HIPPA

guidelines.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

2 or 4  year degree preferred

Minimum 1 year experience with (PQRS) Physicians Quality Reporting System, preferred

1-2 years experience with eCW experience is a must

Ability to work in a fast-paced, team oriented environment.

Must be willing to travel to other locations for training as needed.
